Indoor Testing the eazyplug pyramid mini.

I have one growing now.

In the USA there seems to be only one vendor, and they don't sell the small pyramid.

Shortly after it sprouted I put it in it's 'final container ' the big cube is staked with 2 bamboo skewers to the pyramid, the starter cube is just dropped in. I didn't make any attempt to wedge it in with more material, because either their system works as is, or it doesn't.

You can see the roots starting to bridge the gap

Wahey, you're away! Yes good idea to let it bridge the gap, I get too fussy sometimes, it's prolly going to work well to harden the roots up at the top. It wasn't the gap itself per se that I was concerned about it was more if it gets moved before the roots are strong enough. The big ones might be better for photoperiod where the grow can be controlled, I bet they could be grown quite large.

They look amazing. Wonder how well they'd work in an Autopot system?

Qb
they have their own little recirc system available now - Eazy Pyramid Flood and Drain for four or eight plants.

This grow is very interesting indeed - impressive little things

Easy flood and drain.. mmmmm.. definitely worth a look.

Just speed watched a YouTube video on them.. wow.. just wow.. any experienced flood and drain grower has gotta get big results with that.. makes me hate being a lowly muck chucker lol.

Right Brookyn Sunrise is down and I'm officially all tabletop now. I have planted two new beans I've not grown before a Philosopher Seeds (they arrived encased in a conical tube filled with little plastic beads sitting snugly in a little foam puck that filled a super snazzy snap lid tin), Auto Cheese, also known as Auto Stilton, I figured that I'll do a side by side with these two not knowing anything about them yet, I don't know what I will side by side about, that would depend on how they grow, but if they appear to be branchy then I'll do some severe pruning on one.

The mutant Gorilla Cookies, if it is indeed that, which I doubt, is managing to put on a small amount of decent bud, the replacement though will be a future candidate to do a pruning test and/or a defoliation test, as I just am not sure of how much pruning is needed if at all. Like the Jack 47, she is still amazingly symmetrical with four minaret type poles at the corners and the two main branches in the centre with quite a lot of sub branches that are getting some light due to the LST clips. However again I don't know what I should be chopping off.

So I need to start doing some testing on that. There was a cold snap and Jedi Kush in the big pyramid did not like that, she went into a bit of shock and stopped growing much with stiff droopy leaves, that looked otherwise healthy, I was afraid she might flip early, she had that look about her so I cut off the top at the 5th node, and removed the two lowest branches because it was clear that there not going to get out. She has recovered now and has begun growing again but the roots have not appeared very much outside the pyramid so hopefully she senses it's a big pot and does not flower too early.

Amnesia has finally begun to get some bulk and trichomes, albeit not has heavily as Lemon Pie, and Jack 47 is a bit of a mystery, she's going brown early and doesn't appear to be very juicy, but a close inspection reveals there is a decent density of trichomes. I have another one on the way that I intend to grow in a 3 inch cube only.

so here's the story of dripping the pyramids automatically over a week off.
It's a short one...it worked fine.
the bigger ladies took began to drink more, but the tree day interval still workeed out for them. they were fully "loaded" when i left and only fed twice in that week off with 3l each per feed. The bigger ones felt a bit light, but all were super green and only tro lower leaves were dried out on the td. the (little) runoff was vaporated and helped to keep humidity up.
The bigger ones (td and euphoria) are at approx 40 cm above ground, the amnesia at 30 and the ultimate has 15 cm already after two weeks.
They all are on the same nutes, the td is the first to start flowering, so I'll have to tweak her feed from now on. Now I see what I can mess around.
blurple proof:

They do their job. and knowing they take a week "unmaintained" in growth stage is a good feeling. Handfeed from now on again.
Cheers!

@kfigerm, while the small pyramids can dry out fast I have also found the large pyramid to last for very many days, I just hope that the plant makes full use of the space.

@Drownomatic, interesting your 3" cube appears to be constructed of a finer substrate than the cubes I have here, the roots are still not coming out as much on my large pyramid either, although that could be the cold snap. I gave a seedling to someone who then neglected to do anything with it, and I just checked and although the plug was completely dry, the plant appeared to be fine. I've put her in a small pot now.21-6 - 6.jpeg

Jedi Kush looks to be flipping, not a lot of protruding roots, very lush foliage, I've just done the absolute minimal defoliation at this point, hoping that she continues to spread out. 21-6 - 8.jpeg21-6 - 7.jpeg

The new Gorilla Cookies and the older mutant bean behind her 21-6 - 9.jpeg normally a very branchy plant like this would present me some problems but in a micro grow everything is fine!

Finally Jack 47XL is beginning to get some chunkiness about her, the buds looks like they will be absolutely filled with resin, she is a greenish creamy colour making it difficult to assess. I've also started one of these in a 3 inch cube which I will grow to completion. 21-6 - 2.jpeg

Amnesia looking just about done. 21-6 - 1.jpeg21-6 - 3.jpeg

Lemon Pie in the sun, she looks very top shelf, 21-6 - 5.jpeg

Something that I've learned from this particular grow is that unquestionably the three most important determining factors in the final quality of bud, is 1. Genetics, 2. Genetics, and 3. Genetics.

So the pyramids do really nice work.
normal, or even low feed at always around EC 1000-1300 at PH 5.8, now every day two litres the big plants, the younger ones a little less.
It's warm and sunny and they spend daylight hours outside.
I put them on a layer of clay pebbles , to not airprune the lower roots, but let them sit a little in some "rest-reservior". Whenever i feed them, I water the outside of the pyramid completely to prevent any saltbuildup on them. I water until the runof reaches the lower waste container - thad floods the pebbles and washes excess to the waste container and leaves about 200ml for the plants. That is sucked away within half an hour. No harm at all. So they drink acutally 2.5l a day even though the pyramid still is moist but light brown outside. Algae built up, but that's not too much.
They just grow like in my old hempy/DWC setup, what more can I say to express how impressed I am. With no tampering around with ph...even EC is an approximal value. I just try to keep them moist and don't overfeed.

These girls are at around Day 40 euphoria (right front) 37td (left front) 37 (amnesia right back) and day 18 ultimate (left back elevated)...from popping into the water, so substract a week or so for the actual day one of each...
all the big ones are above 55cm already, the 18 day old ultimate stands 30cm high with five nodes. All topped now.
Those pyramids are i m p r e s s i v e.
