Indoor Keeping It Small and Simple

@fauxnacho ... Do you mean something like this? :crying: I had to bend her and twist her to keep her out of the lights. Then it took me a good Long while to harvest her.

Seriously, though. I have been scheming for the past couple of weeks about what I’m going to do next. I’m thinking 15 liter air pots with Happy Frog and MegaCrop with some Cosmic Queen, Purple Nuggets and Creme De La Chem.
^ Now that there is a monster!! I'll go all through the thread when I get a mo. Great qn of what to do after you grow more than you could possibly smoke - is that why you downsized ?

There are a couple of things to unpack here.

1.) I now know that I can grow nearly half an elbow if I want to. I know a least one method of doing it anyway. I have proven to myself that I can do it.

2.) DWC is pretty fiddly. There’s a lot of measuring, monitoring and math. I am pretty lazy, so I don’t always want something complicated to deal with.

3.) I only grow for myself. I’m older and most of my friends are Poindexters. I had to use some as gifts to the people I do know that smoke. I gave some to the fellas at the hydroponics shop. Some for infusions (butter, coconut oil and olive oil). The trim and larf I dry screened for kief (which if I recall was 11 grams) some of which I made into hash and some I decarbed and directly added into hard candy and brownies and gummies. It took forever to finish.

4.) When you grow one giant plant, it takes up your whole grow space. There’s no variety. You want different effects or flavors? You only get one with a big plant opposed to many with several small plants.

5.) To be perfectly honest, I am a seed whore. I stopped buying seeds over a year ago and I still have over 300. Mostly because of the copious freebies that Mephisto gives out. But still...I need to deplete my supply quite a bit before running out to get more. So growing several at a time lets me do just this.

Now...with all of this being said, there are a few strains that I’d like to grow big...well...as big as they can get. I am a HUGE fan of Mephisto’s Strawberry Nuggets (and Purple Nuggets and Deez Nuggs). It’s the perfect smoke before bedtime. Im also a fan of Mephisto’s Blue Toof Spevial and FastBuds Blue Dream’matic. I’d love to see big yields of these strains.

Finally, I think you’ll be surprised how big the Dutch Passion Colorado Cookies will get in her 3 liter pot. She’s currently in the middle of what appears to be a massive stretch, growing taller every time I check in on her.

In short, I haven’t given up on growing big...I’ve just set it aside (maybe) for a little while.

Day 42 in the 2x4 Tent and Day 38 in the 2x2.5 Tent. Everything is moving right along. 3 to 4 more weeks to go...maybe. The Colorado Cookies is pre-flowering but not yet in full flower. I don’t know how long she’s going to go or how big she’s going to get. She’s pretty big so far. The G14 is looking battle hardened. I‘m going to try to drop her pH for the next round of feeding. Maybe that’ll help.

Yeah, G14 looks a lot worse in person than she does in the photos. In fact, she looks downright crispy. But I have 3 to 4 more weeks. I’m gonna try to limp her across the line. I’ll try to get some close up shots of the Blackberry Kush buds on Wednesday. They look absolutely tasty.

I checked the pH of the batch of nutrients that I made yesterday morning and I noticed some slight upwards drift in the pH (6.3 to 6.4). If the same thing is true of the mini reservoirs at the bottom of the containers, then perhaps phosphorus and manganese are getting locked out. I checked the petioles on the underside of each of the ladies this morning and I noticed some pinkish/purplish coloration. So, my guess is lack of phosphorus. I suspected something like this yesterday because the buds aren’t beefing up the way I expected given me adding Bud Explosion. They should be getting blasted with phosphorus right now. So, this morning, I added some pH Down to the nutes to get readings between 5.6 and 5.8. I will keep doing this until I see some sort of result. Then I’ll adjust as necessary. I also dropped the MegaCrop back down to 4.5 g/gal. this morning. This is turning way more fiddly than I wanted it to. I wanted this to be simple. Oh well.

Happy growing everyone!

I grew a Colorado Cookies last year. She filled my homemade grow box which measure 4'x3'x5' tall. Top to bottom, side to side with a good bit of super cropping to keep her out of the lights. I think she was in a 3 gallon fabric pot.

awesome journal I love folks who try things out I've grown a load of 2-litre bottles and a couple of 1 litre and countless solo cups but I was truly amazed what you can grow in small containers

Good job, bud!

i honestly didn’t think shed get so big in a 0.75 gallon container. Don’t get me wrong...I’m happy...but I may need to get creative. I have a few questions if you don’t mind. How did yours produce for you and how’d she taste? Oh...and how long did she go? I’m at day 39 and she just started to flower in earnest today.

Thank you for the rep. I’m not sure I deserve it. I do greatly appreciate it, though. I was in a 2 liter fun grow a couple of years ago. That’s where I started using this grow style. I picked up a lot of really useful tips during that contest. The only thing I really have a problem with in these small containers is pH. It drifts here and there without rhyme or reason and swings wildly just for fun. Other than that one issue, I love growing in small containers.
