Indoor Teetee's 2021 Monster Hunt

Final weights BBK and NQ
  • Finally I'm DONE!!!

The giant Blackberry Kush came down on 28th Feb, day 77. I'm sure she could have gone on longer, but I didn't want her foxtailing and we were running out of gear. Plus temps were so high (like in the mid to high 30°C's) and it was ultra humid.... life in the Tropics, eh!

During harvesting, I'd normally take a big stem off, manicure it and hang it in a cardboard box.... repeat until completed..... a big plant would take 2-3 days. I'd make a bit of room in the 'smoking' room, get stoned, watch TV etc and take my time about it.

Now we live in the 'burbs, the smell becomes a major issue and I can't sit around for days snipping away in the garage, so this time I just hacked each branch off and hung them immediately, leaves and all.
It took just under an hour to get the BBK down, and the hanging boxes were kept up in the room we smoke in, which has a carbon filter air purifyer running.

I hate manicuring dry stems, all the leaves stand out when fresh, but once dry they contract onto the buds and removing them is a pain in the arse. I've heard that leaving the leaves on slows down the drying process a little, and can result in a more mellow final smoke....

For me, it's just pure procrastination, and so I left them hanging in boxes for over 2 weeks, and then I finally got on with the manicuring.

Here's all the long stems of Blackberry Kush before I jarred it up.....
    BBK crop 1.JPG

    hang on, there's some more....
    BBK crop 2.JPG

here's the complete harvest of BBK filling up the tub!
    BBK crop 3.JPG

The Blackberry Kush was very generous, giving me a total of 12.5 ounces (354.5g) of nice looking tight buds... now in jars with 62% Bovedas.
The bud was pretty dry to start off, but I'm noticing now, after 10 days curing, the buds are a lot more 'firm and springy'.
The vaped product is tasty as fuck and hits the spot, as I'd expect from Dutch Passion!

That left the Night Queen, for so long hidden at the back behind the BBK.... now she had the tent to herself, and I was able to open her out and let the light and air in to give her a final push.

Here she is on day 82 back on the 5th March...
    day 82 NQ 1.JPG

Good solid trunk and big long stems each with fat buds at the top.
    day 82 NQ 2.JPG

She was really feeling the heat so 3 days later on day 85 I took her down as well.
Same speedy chop, but this time I hung the stems up in the now vacant tent, lights off with the fans still running.

This lot was more leafy than the BBK, but the buds were a bit chunkier, and the thought of having to manicure all of that meant I let them (over)dry for 19 days (normally I'd dry them for 12-14 days till they get to around 60% RH).

With such crispy dry material, I got a bit lucky/lazy with the manicuring and was able to pluck every leaf out by hand instead of snipping away with clippers, and here's what I harvested.....

    NQ crop 1.JPG

    plus....
    NQ crop 2.JPG

    and finally....
    NQ crop 3.JPG

The Night Queen delivered 8.9 ounces (252.3g), but I'm sure that would weigh a lot more if it was at 62%.

Anyway, not a bad total haul of 21.4 ounces (606.7g) from 2 plants, especially if you take the sauna like conditions into account.

I'm already thinking about my next grow, but first the tent must come down as we have a house inspection on Friday.
I'll be planting seeds on Weds night so that when she fucks off I can put the tent up again and start immediately.

Given the tropical location, I've decided to go for Banana Blaze, Lemon Kix and Orange Bud, all Dutch Passion Auto's, and I know nothing about them, so should be fun!
Thanks for dropping in, and keep an eye out for my new grow! :shooty:

Grow 4 - Teetee's 2022 Tropical Treats - Orange Bud, Banana Blaze and Lemon Kix
  • So this diary has 2021 in the title and although I finished my last grow in March 2022, it was technically a 2021 grow as I planted them in mid December 2021.

Now we're well into 2022, but the goal is the same... big girls with big buds!

Lazy stoner that I am, I can't be bothered to do a new thread so I'll continue here....

Welcome to Teetee's 2022 Tropical Treats!!!

We had an inspection last Friday, so on the Wednesday before, I planted 3 Dutch Passion beans....
    • Auto Banana Blaze
    • Auto Lemon Kix
    • Auto Orange Bud
Just the 3 plants as I don't wanna get a Kilo then hand it all over to Hope!!!

The idea was to plant them mid week so that they'd pop over the weekend, giving me time to take tent down, hide everything for the inspection, then get it all up again.

The plan worked perfectly, the Orange Bud and Banana Blaze appeared on Saturday and this morning the Lemon Kix showed her face too.
    day 1 Group.JPG

I did my usual thing and made up 3 Solo cups with perforated bottoms, filled them with Canna Coco Professional Plus, soaked with an EC 0.7 mix of House and Garden's Cocos A&B along with some Roots Excellurator, some Cal Mag and a dash of Nitrogen Boost.

The seeds were planted direct in the Coco and covered with cling film. I left them in a dark cardboard box somewhere warm..... seeing that it's blistering hot here in the Tropics, I just left the box on the floor in the garage.

This method works 100% of the time, takes 3 days for the seedlings to show, and no stress to the delicate roots.

I plan to repot them into my trusty 25L airpots around day 14, and hopefully one of them will be a monster... I'm thinking it will be the Lemon Kix as it's advertised as a XXL taking 84 days to mature, and while the Orange Bud is 77 days and the Banana Blaze is 84 days both are XL only.

    Wish them luck!!!
Thanks for taking a look, more next week!

Day 9 - off to a good start
  • Hey, back again, it's day 9 and I'm still smarting from the beating we got from the Bees last night.

    On a postive note...
    Day 9 Group 1.JPG

from L to R: Banana Blaze, Lemon Kix and Orange Bud

All getting off to a good start, despite it being 31°C in the tent.... while the rest of the east coast has been enjoying offshore cyclones, torrential rain and flash flooding for a couple of months we have just been ROASTING.

    Here they are from above....
    Day 9 Group 2.JPG

The Orange Bud is flying away, but I suspect she's growing faster because she finishes in 77 days while the other two take 84.

I've never had a plant finish on the day as advertised by the seed company, usually another`1-2 weeks more at least, especially if they are monsters.... but it's a useful guide.
I'd imagine the seed co's use smaller pots for their test runs.

I have them all under a single Skyline 400 LED, and once they get moved into the final 25L airpots they can have one LED unit each.

I'm feeding them every 2-3 days using the remainder of the nute mix I used to germinate them with.... EC 0.7 pH 5.8.

Getting ready to repot them over the next weekend, I like to do it around the 14 day mark.

That's it for today, a nice quick one!

Day 13 - From Solo cup to 25L airpot
  • It's day 13, and the seedlings were looking great in their Solo pots this morning...

    Day 13 Group 1.JPG

L to R: Orange Bud, Lemon Kix and Banana Blaze

The Lemon Kix is a little shorter, but they are all coming along nicely.

    Here they are from above...
    Day 13 Group 2.JPG

Time to re-pot them into my faithful 25L Airpots.....
    Day 13 Group 3.JPG

and one by one - starting with Orange Bud...
    Day 13 OB.JPG

    Lemon Kix...
    Day 13 LK.JPG

    and Banana Blaze....
    Day 13 BB.JPG

I hooked up more lights so they now have a Skyline 400 LED each, and gave them a light watering with the last of the germination mix... about 2L each to get them bedded into their new homes.
An air circulation fan on low, is at ground level just to keep any heat stress at bay.

    More next week!

    Day 21 and 23 - The Banana's Blazing away
  • Week 3 update... they have taken well to their new pots.

Here they were back on day 13 after I repotted them....
    Day 13 Group 3.JPG

Now a week later on day 21...
    Day 21 Group.JPG

    and today on day 23....
    Day 23 Group.JPG

clockwise from top left: Orange Bud, Banana Blaze and Lemon Kix

The Lemon Kix is the slowest of all, but she took about 18 hours longer to germinate.
On day 21 she looked like this....
    Day 21 LK.JPG

I snipped off a couple of fan leaves lower down and today on day 23 here she is....
    Day 23 LK.JPG

    Looking reasonably healthy.

The Orange Bud has always been a bit moody. Even on day 13 she was looking a little droopy at the tips.
On day 21 she was looking a bit bigger, but maybe a little more moody than before....
    Day 21 OB.JPG

So once again, I nipped off a few lower fans and also a couple from the top to let the new shoots get some light....
    Day 23 OB.JPG

.... and I think you'll agree she looks a bit happier today.

The Banana Blaze really took off..... unrecognizable from day 13's shot......
    Day 13 BB.JPG

Here she is on day 21...
    Day 21 BB.JPG

She's more developed than the other two, and I was able to get away with just a bit of leaf tucking.
I couldn't believe how much more she grew in the 2 days to day 23....
    Day 23 BB.JPG

I'm giving them an EC 0.8 mix of CalMag, House and Garden Cocos A&B plus H&G Drip Clean, Roots Excellurator, Multizyme and Nitrogen boost. pH 5.8, and they get 5L every couple of days, but that will increase to daily pretty soon.

As you saw in the final group shot, the temps aren't great.... just teetering under 30°C, so I have plenty of air circulation and the intake extract fans are close to full blast.

That's it for this week, thanks for looking in!

Day 39 - Need to get stealthy, they're getting big and smelly
  • Day 39 update.

Sorry it's been a while, it's a bit difficult taking pics where I am at the moment, if I open the tent, the bright lights fire out like laser beams between the gaps around the garage door.
Even watering them is a nightmare, as I can only do it after work.
We're having a bit of a cyclone here and yet the people over the road INSIST on sitting on a sofa plonked in their front garden all day and all night, rain or shine. Their Son in Law is bacon, and on that subject we also have a lady pig living just 3 doors up the road. For fucks sake.

Anyway, here's a few quick shots I managed this afternoon....
    day 39 Group.JPG

As a group, they aren't looking bad for day 39. The Lemon Kix is at the front with the Orange Bud behind it, and the lush Banana Blaze to the right.

The Lemon Kix is looking pretty healthy, but is in need of a little defoliation and staking out....
    day 39 LK.JPG

The Orange Bud has always been a bit grumpy. Her leaves started going pale at the edges and dark around the veins, looking like she might need a stronger feed? Anyway, that hasn't stopped her developing some nice side branches, and she's just starting to stretch....
    day 39 OB.JPG

I should probably give her a separate feed to the other two, but I just can't pull my finger out on that one.

The star of this run has to be the Banana Blaze, she is looking lovely (and big)....
    day 39 BB.JPG

She's also started to stretch, and I'm gonna have to get some stakes in soon to try and have her fill half the tent.
Almost at the half way mark, so plenty of time to get her to her full potential.

Thanks for having a look, more soon!

Day 48 - Early flowering and a bit of stretch
  • Since the last update on day 39, they've really started to fill up the space.
This morning, 9 days later on day 48, this is what I see when I open the tent....
    Day 48 Group1.JPG

That's the Banana Blaze there in front, completely obscuring the view of the Lemon Kix and Orange Bud behind.
The LEDs give away their position.

Notice all I have for air circulation is the large floor fan with a rotating grill.... more on that later.

From a higher angle, you can see them at the back, the LK on the left and OB on the right....
    Day 48 Group2.JPG

All shots today with the lights off, so you can see the plants in natural light.... all nice and green, no tip burns etc.

Probably the only issue at the moment is a bit of early heat stress as indicated by the upturned serrated edges of the leaves.... having that floor fan is not enough now, so I put a couple of smaller clip fans up above the canopy. Although it's 'winter' here, it's still 25°C plus!!!

The Orange Bud looks like a different plant compared to 9 days ago. She was growing OK before, just her leaves looked a bit strange. Now that seems to have sorted itself out on its own.

I changed nothing, apart from her position in the tent, I just carried on giving the same mix I've been giving for the last few weeks.

    Here she is from above....
    Day 48 OB1.JPG

You'd never guess there was any problems!
    Here's a front view...
    Day 48 OB2.JPG

Lots of nice stems forming, but (and I have been saying this for a few weeks now about all of them) she needs a good defoliation lower down.

She's certainly stretching a bit and the bud sites are forming nicely...
    Day 48 OB3.JPG

The Lemon Kix has always been the smallest of this run, and now she's squeezed into the back left corner.

From above you can see she's merging into the Orange Bud beside her....
    Day 48 LK1.JPG

A front view shot shows her surprisingly numerous stems developing nicely.....
    Day 48 LK2.JPG

A bit of defoliation will make it easier for those stems to get some light and air in there.
Her main stem shows the flower sites are coming along well.....
    Day 48 LK3.JPG

That just leaves the mighty Banana Blaze.
    Here she is from above....
    Day 48 BB2.JPG

She could have a whole tent for herself!

From the front, you can see how big a girl she is....
    Day 48 BB3.JPG

....and from a different angle it seems like there's gonna be some nice long candy canes on their way!!!
    Day 48 BB1.JPG

Her main stem shows a bit of heat stress, but those buds are more developed than the other two....
    Day 48 BB4.JPG

I wanted spend some time with my girls this weekend, I get Fridays off, so I'm already off to a good start... photos done!

I also changed my carbon filter, the old one was a cheapo and about 2.5 years old. To add to my paranoia about the local fuzz, the garage has been stinking of weed lately, so it was time to get a new one... Rhino Pro, which is substantially chunkier and so hopefully has a bit more carbon in it.

I also installed the clip fans, and all I have to do now is do the bloody defoliation, and I might get on with that this arvo.... well maybe....

I'll be back in the next couple of days to show you...... don't hold your breath!

Day 57 - about to hit the PK button
  • Here they are as of 2 days ago, day 57....
    Day 57 Group 2.JPG

The Banana Blaze there in front, with Lemon Kix back left and the Orange Bud back right. moulding herself into the corner.

Here's the Banana Blaze on her own, lights on...
    Day 57 BB1.JPG

With lights off, you can see her buds better....
    Day 57 BB2.JPG

You can see her exposed roots looking nice and chunky. After I took these pics, I gave her a bit more of a thinning out inside and lower down.

When I pull out the Banana (Giggety) you can see the Lemon Kix and Orange Bud better....
    Day 57 LK OB 1.JPG

If I apply the 'bud revealer' (ie turn off the LEDs)....
    Day 57 LK OB 2.JPG

Before re-inserting the Banana (Giggety) I gave them a good thinning out leaving pretty much just the main stems.
    Day 57 LK OB 3.JPG

Yesterday I finally received a bottle of H&G Top Booster... basically PK13/14, so I got on with feeding them some immediately, and will continue on the PK for another 5-6 days, then hopefully 3-4 weeks on normal feeds to finish off.
The Orange Bud is advertised as a 77 day finisher and the other two as 84 days... 12 weeks, which is a long time considering @hope2grow and @420autoflower get @Sawney_bean's done in half the time!

The Banana is more developed than the rest so I think she will probably be done by 85-90 days, then I think it will be the Orange, and finally the Lemon, close to 14 weeks!

I'm already dreading the crop... it's gonna STINK!

Lets see how they look after a week on the PK.... thanks for looking in! :toke:

Day 67 - loading up the bud
  • So we're deep into winter here, and its a freezing 24°C during the day dropping to a polar 15°C at night ha ha!
Great growing conditions for a change, and I'm pleased with how things are going.

Here they are today, day 67....
    day 67 group 1.JPG

It's pretty stuffed in there. I do miss my old 1.4m x 1.4m wide tent.... this one's 1.2m x 1.2m and that extra bit of space would have been very useful. Unfortunately, the old tent collapsed due to the sheer weight of all the lights I used to hang up in there to grow the monsters of old!

Here's another group shot with the lights off. Banana Blaze at the front, Lemon Kix back left and the Orange Bud back right.....
    day 67 group 2.JPG

Here's the Banana on her own...
    day 67 BB 1.JPG

    She's a chunky lass.

Lights off and you can see the bud more clearly. You can also see the amount of bud on the Lemon Kix behind....
    day 67 BB 2.JPG

The colas are all fattening up nicely after a week of PK 13/14 (days 58-64)
    day 67 BB 3.JPG

I took the BB out to reveal the Lemon Kix and Orange Bud.....
    day 67 LK OB.JPG

That Orange Bud is HUGE... if only she had a tent to herself, I think she would have filled it. She's done well to grow into any space she could find around that hedge of Banana.
The pictures don't do her justice - she's got quite a few nice long colas developing.
    day 67 OB.JPG

The Lemon Kix has also done well, making use of the tiny space she has some lovely looking bud on her....
    day 67 LK 1.JPG

    day 67 LK 2.JPG

Sorry about the pics, they're pretty crap at the moment. I am so scared of having the tent open with lights on. Just having the tent open during the day makes the garage stink, and I don't want the neighbours sniffing around.

I do all my watering around 8.30pm, and by 9 I have to be done as the vacuum cleaner I use to suck up the run off is a bit on the noisy side. I water them as quick as I can and wear a head torch so I can see what I'm doing, for fucks sake.

Anyway, thanks for checking in, more soon! :baked:

day 81 - the fat lady's clearing her throat...
  • Whew! Who's got a smoke? :baked:
You know what I mean? I might even take a break from growing for a couple of months to get over the stress of this one! A nice big haul will keep me sane!
Nice! Still cracking out monsters mate.

    Nice selection of strains too.
Cheers Ribbzzy! Banana, Lemon and Orange.... the perfect diet!
Girls are looking very teetee now.. ima get that word into the Oxford English.. as a description for monster plants.. 'they look very teetee' lol I like it!!
    You make me blush, Bro!

It really is filling up in there....
    day 77 group 1.JPG

That was lights on, with Banana Blaze in front with Lemon Kix behind on the left and the Orange Bud back right.
Lights off and you can see the amount of bud on its way....
    day 77 group 2.JPG

That tent is 1.2m wide, and the Banana Blaze pretty much takes up all the space.
Here she is on her own...
    day 77 BB.JPG

Crack open the macro (but no ring flash cos I left the batteries in and they've turned into brown mush grrrr) for a few close ups...
    Day 81 BB 1.JPG

    Day 81 BB 2.JPG

Lots of juicy trichomes - all milky....
    Day 81 BB 3.JPG

Here's how things look when I take the Banana out of the tent. Lemon Kix on the left and the Orange Bud on the right....
day 77 LK and OB 1.JPG

... and with the lights off...
day 77 LK and OB 2.JPG

    Notice the yoyos....
2/3 weeks they be collapsing under the weight of those colas
not wrong Hope... they was colas were sagging all over the shop!

Lemon Kix has a small footprint, but she's loaded with sparkly goodies....
    day 77 LK.JPG

    Here's a closer look...
    Day 81 LK 1.JPG

    Day 81 LK 2.JPG

Finally the Orange Bud. You're only seeing half of her here - there's plenty more behind those 3 big colas.....
    day 77 OB.JPG

The Orange is nearly done. She's advertised as a 77 day finisher, and it's now day 81. I reckon I'll take her down this weekend, and do the other two (84 day finishers) the following weekend.

Finally some close ups of the Orange....
    Day 81 OB 1.JPG

    Day 81 OB 2.JPG

I'm seeing mainly milky trichomes, but the ambers are beginning to show....
    Day 81 OB 3.JPG

I don't reallty want to stink the place out while harvesting... so it looks like I'll be up all Friday and Saturday nights for the next couple of weeks. These days I just quickly chop off stem by stem, get just the fan leaves off, then box the stems for 12-14 days.

That whole tent is looking just beautiful! Good luck on staying undetected. I think you'll pull it off. Sounds like you have the right level of paranoid precautions in place.
Thanks DC. It's doing my head in. This last week or 2, we've had this old lady from round the corner come over a few times, poor old Girl just wants a chat, but her Daughter's in the Army FFS.

If I get time, I'll manicure them more, but that would have to be in the dead of night, but I don't mind waiting until they've dried to finish off the job.
All that sweetleaf and any straggly bud will be saved for making some canna coconut oil.

Getting the Lemon and Banana down in one go gives me the opportunity to dry them in the tent, which is the only way to keep the smell under control.

Thanks for taking a look! Happy growing!
