Finally I'm DONE!!!
The giant Blackberry Kush came down on 28th Feb, day 77. I'm sure she could have gone on longer, but I didn't want her foxtailing and we were running out of gear. Plus temps were so high (like in the mid to high 30°C's) and it was ultra humid.... life in the Tropics, eh!
During harvesting, I'd normally take a big stem off, manicure it and hang it in a cardboard box.... repeat until completed..... a big plant would take 2-3 days. I'd make a bit of room in the 'smoking' room, get stoned, watch TV etc and take my time about it.
Now we live in the 'burbs, the smell becomes a major issue and I can't sit around for days snipping away in the garage, so this time I just hacked each branch off and hung them immediately, leaves and all.
It took just under an hour to get the BBK down, and the hanging boxes were kept up in the room we smoke in, which has a carbon filter air purifyer running.
I hate manicuring dry stems, all the leaves stand out when fresh, but once dry they contract onto the buds and removing them is a pain in the arse. I've heard that leaving the leaves on slows down the drying process a little, and can result in a more mellow final smoke....
For me, it's just pure procrastination, and so I left them hanging in boxes for over 2 weeks, and then I finally got on with the manicuring.
Here's all the long stems of Blackberry Kush before I jarred it up.....
hang on, there's some more....
here's the complete harvest of BBK filling up the tub!
The Blackberry Kush was very generous, giving me a total of 12.5 ounces (354.5g) of nice looking tight buds... now in jars with 62% Bovedas.
The bud was pretty dry to start off, but I'm noticing now, after 10 days curing, the buds are a lot more 'firm and springy'.
The vaped product is tasty as fuck and hits the spot, as I'd expect from Dutch Passion!
That left the Night Queen, for so long hidden at the back behind the BBK.... now she had the tent to herself, and I was able to open her out and let the light and air in to give her a final push.
Here she is on day 82 back on the 5th March...
Good solid trunk and big long stems each with fat buds at the top.
She was really feeling the heat so 3 days later on day 85 I took her down as well.
Same speedy chop, but this time I hung the stems up in the now vacant tent, lights off with the fans still running.
This lot was more leafy than the BBK, but the buds were a bit chunkier, and the thought of having to manicure all of that meant I let them (over)dry for 19 days (normally I'd dry them for 12-14 days till they get to around 60% RH).
With such crispy dry material, I got a bit lucky/lazy with the manicuring and was able to pluck every leaf out by hand instead of snipping away with clippers, and here's what I harvested.....
plus....
and finally....
The Night Queen delivered 8.9 ounces (252.3g), but I'm sure that would weigh a lot more if it was at 62%.
Anyway, not a bad total haul of 21.4 ounces (606.7g) from 2 plants, especially if you take the sauna like conditions into account.
I'm already thinking about my next grow, but first the tent must come down as we have a house inspection on Friday.
I'll be planting seeds on Weds night so that when she fucks off I can put the tent up again and start immediately.
Given the tropical location, I've decided to go for Banana Blaze, Lemon Kix and Orange Bud, all Dutch Passion Auto's, and I know nothing about them, so should be fun!
Thanks for dropping in, and keep an eye out for my new grow!
