Indoor Teetee's 2021 Monster Hunt

Days 4 - 10 - seedlings into the tent
  • Thanks @DCLXVI for the rep, and to @THE BEAR @hope2grow @WildBill and @Autofire for your comments, yes it's GOOD TO BE BACK!!! :headbang:

A completely new set up in a new location is a pain in the arse - we are creatures of habit, so any change upsets the system.

My first 15 grows I had complete privacy, living out in the sticks with pure EC 0 rainwater on tap and a huge room upstairs to grow in, smoke in and all the rest (ahem).
The we moved closer to the City, we had a place with some space, a good sized couple of spare rooms to do our thing, but it was all on the ground floor with the risk of neighbours catching a whiff.
Now we're in a little seaside village, and instead of growing in the house, I'm doing it in one of the garages. We can smoke during the day in the other garage, but at night we have to barricade ourselves in the ensuite bathroom, and put a towel down and keep the fan on. Not the comfiest place to veg out and watch a bit of TV while having a long session.

Thinking about making the jump and getting a Vape, and I've narrowed it down to:
    • The Rogue - by Healthy Rips
    • Utillian 722
    • Ghost MV1
    • The Mighty
    ... in that order.

I understand the Mighty is the best, but it's an ugly machine - very plasticky. I've seen a stainless steel replacement cooling unit for it that has a titanium mouthpiece that would make it an attractive proposition, but that's a lot of cash all in all.
The Utillian and Ghost both have great reviews but the Rogue will probably be the one for me, I've always been interested in Healthy Rips gear, and its seems that they've finally made a unit big enough and powerful enough to satisfy my needs.

Anyway, back to the grow, and they are making good early progress.
Clockwise from the top left, Chronic, Night Queen, Blackberry Kush and Jack Herer......

    Day 7

    DSC_6650.JPG

    Day 10

I have only fed them the once (on day 7), using the left over nute mix I made up for when I sowed the seeds.
EC 0.8, but the pH had risen to 8.3, so I had to put a fair bit of pH down to get it down to pH 5.8 (but made the EC rise to 0.9), then I gave them a good drenching to replace any old nute in the cups. No sign of any tip burn so all is good.

They are pretty much ready to transplant into the 25L airpots, so I'll have to pull my finger out and get down the local hydro shop and get some more Coco in these next few days.... in the past I've either been to quick to repot or I've left it too late, the 14 day mark is about the right time.

Hope you are all good! The prem starts next weekend, I'm soooooo looking forward to watching late night games in the bog!

    Days 12 - 30 - photo diary
  • Sorry about that @hope2grow it's been a couple of weeks and I just haven't had the time to put it all together and post updates.

Thanks for all the vape advice everyone. @WildBill - I had the original Herbalaire about 8-9 years ago. I bought some huge food grade turkey bags and did my best to get stoned on it, but it just wouldn't hit the spot for me... at all. I gave it to a friend and he liked it, so it probably was me that was the problem!
I'm most likely gonna get a Mighty, and see if I can get the metal cooling unit.
I just need some cash, so might be a month or two before I do the switch from my beloved doobs. :baked:

Have no fear, all is progressing well in our new set up.

The neighbours have been nosy but so far, manageable. Plenty of ocean breeze to disperse the smell of us smoking in the garage, but they're close enough for them to hear me coughing while I'm having a late night spliff in the lav.

Here we go then with a lightning run through the last couple of weeks.

Clockwise from top left: Chronic Ryder, Night Queen, Blackberry Kush and Jack Herer....

    Day 12
    day 12 1.JPG

Reasonably healthy looking seedlings. I waited until day 14 to transfer them into 25L airpots.

    Day 15
    Day 15.JPG
    Day 15.JPG
    Day 15.JPG

The leaf 'blemishes' are due to me being careless with a bottle of pH down.... I shook it but the lid popped off while mixing up the nutes on day 13 (unlucky for some) and of course.... i splashed it fucking everywhere. Luckily mainly cardboard boxes and the concrete garage floor, which now looks lovely and clean (in one patch) having been stripped down by concentrated acid.

They seemed to recover well, and 3 days later on day 18......
    Day 18 group.JPG

They're all moving up the nodes at roughly the same pace. The JH (bottom left) is growing very thick leaves and remaining fairly compact.

5 days later on day 23 you can see the difference in heights....
    day 23 group.JPG

The NQ (top right) and BBK (bottom right) both growing tall, while the CR (top left) and JH (bottom left) are a bit shorter. The NQ and BBK are both Dutch Passion, while the JH and CR are freebies from Sept 2014 - 7 years old and probably early, low yielding Autos from back in the day. CR is basically "Chronic" Auto, and I remember it being pretty good when I first grew it, so we'll see.

2 days later on day 25 the two on the left are in good proportion, while the CJ is a bit shorter, and the JH remains really compact and asymetrical. I had to cut off the huge top fan leaf to reveal the underlying side shoots...
    Day 25 Group.JPG

4 days later on day 29 and the Dutch Passion duo on the left are shooting up....
    day 29 Group.JPG

I've been doing a bit of leaf tucking on the shorter two, and snipped a few leaves from all of them, mainly large fan leaves blocking the light from the developing side branches underneath. Look at those leaves on the Night Queen (top left)... huge!

I don't wanna cut many leaves off the JH (bottom left) as I've a feeling she'll remain a shortie and I don't want to deprive her in any way, but she's got some big leaves that are making it hard to let the new shoots grow through. In spite of the asymmetry, she's nice and healthy looking.

I'm feeding them every 2 days, and giving them EC 1.0 when I'd normally be giving EC 0.8. My tap water is EC 0.4 whereas in my old place it was EC 0.2. Temps are pretty warm, but my gauges aren't working, so I'm not sure. Ambient temps are 25°C but inside a metal garage is warmer, plus the 4 LED's, I wouldn't be surprised if its 28°C plus in the tent.

Now they are on day 30, week 5, so there's gonna be some flowering action soon, and if the DP girls have room to stretch, we might have another couple of monsters!

    Day 45 - The aftermath
  • So, I'm still struggling with these cluster(fuck) headaches, the Doc's put me on this injection called Emgality.... supposed to be a major game changer for migranes.
It has reduced the severity but not the frequency, and the major side effect I'm getting is depression. Now, I'm normally a very happy go lucky kind of guy but this has knocked me for six. I cried at the end of the last episode of 'The Big Bang Theory' for fuck sake!

It was Father's day here in Oz a couple of weeks back and I fell into this hole where I had convinced myself that I was a shit Dad, so I went into the grow shed and switched it all off.

    For 3 days.

Then I came to my senses (plus the jars are getting empty), and switched it all back on again.

The plants looked terrible, but I have been plodding along trying to get them back on track.
Here they are on day 45, 7 days after switching it all off.....
    day 45 Group.JPG

clockwise from top left: Chronic Ryder, Night Queen, Blackberry Kush and Jack Herer.

Not looking too bad, a few yellow leaves and a bit of Cal Mag deficiency in the CR, NQ and BBK. The JH looks lovely and green, but is very short, and has no flowers... so this is a photo period plant.... DAMN!!!

Here's a close up of the Jack Herer....
    day 45 JH1.JPG

She's very bushy, under those fans are loads of side shoots not getting any light, so I gave her a good trim down below....
    day 45 JH2.JPG

Now, from above you can see the difference....
    day 45 JH3.JPG

I'm still deciding what to do with her....
    • chuck her out (and save on nutes)
    • put up my old tent and give her 12/12 lighting
    • shove her in the greenhouse and let the sunshine do its job
The last two options are a problem.... we rent, so there will be a house inspection in 6-8 weeks time... not enough to get her to finish in time. Plus the neighbours will smell the buds if I grow her in the greenhouse.

So there's one last option.... keep her vegging in the same tent as the Autos, and pack her away for the inspection, then get her on 12/12 to finish once the inspection's done and dusted.... I might even germinate some other photos I have in stock so they can all grow together. Summer's coming and it would be great to have plants on 12/12 to keep the grow temps down during the day (with lights off). I could even try taking some cuttings off the JH and do 4 of the same.

    What do you think???

    Anyway back to the Autos.
Here's the BBK on day 45....
    day 45 BBK1.JPG

As you can see, lots of leaf issues, so I trimmed the rotten ones off, and now she looks like this...
    day 45 BBK3.JPG

Her main cola is shaping up nicely....
    day 45 BBK2.JPG

Nice bit of purple going on there!

I did the same with the CR and NQ, trimmed off the dodgy leaves and a bit of a tidy up.
    The NQ has stretched nicely...
    day 45 NQ.JPG

She's very tall and all her side branches are also quite long, so I will be staking her out in the next day or two.

CR is also doing reasonably well....
    day 45 CR.JPG

....and again I will be staking her out a bit.

It would be nice to get rid of the JH just so I can make the other 3 spread out into the extra space, but I just can't mentally get round throwing out a perfectly healthy ganja plant!

Today it's day 48, so I will be getting them on the PK 13-14 over the weekend..... hopefully the NQ is gonna be a big yielder!

That's it for this update, more soon!

    Day 48 - The stakeout
  • Thanks for the pep talk @Suki813 and @hope2grow. I pulled my finger out this morning and took the kids to the beach, then came back later to stake out the plants.

From the front, you can see the Night Queen dominating the view with the (photo) Jack Herer beside. You can see how I've brought the NQ branches over to use some of the space taken up by the JH, and angled the lights from the JH over to the NQ.
The Chronic Ryder is behind the JH, with the Blackberry Kush hidden behind the NQ....
    day 48 group 14.JPG

From an angle, you can see them all...
    day 48 group 25.JPG

Here's the NQ close up.... she's a big Girl!
    day 48 NQ6.JPG

The Chronic Ryder is best viewed from the side window....
    day 48 CR3.JPG

.... and the Blackberry Kush, seen from the other side window.....
    day 48 BBK 11.JPG

From the front you can see how I've spread her out....
    day 48 BBK 22.JPG

In a few days they'll be on the PK, so hopefully they will fill the tent with nice fat buds!

    Day 58 - PK done.
  • It's been 10 days since the last update, it's now day 58.

I gave them all a PK13/14 based feed from days 51 to 57 and now they are back on regular A&B based feeds for the rest of the grow...
...or at least until I get some AN Bud Candy! Its back after a year long COVID related import issue, so I'll be getting some ASAP!!!

I got rid of the JH, she was just taking up space and I'd given up feeding her. I don't have the time to deal with a photo right now.

Here they were earlier today as you opened the tent before I made a few changes....
    group 1.JPG

The Night Queen dominates at the front, but to the right at the back you'll just see the Chronic Ryder, and to the left the Blackberry Kush.

I may as well carry on with the immense NQ. From the surface of the Coco, she's 115cm tall, add the 25L airpot, so the lights are up at their maximum height.
I had already staked her out, but now the JH is gone, and the stretch is done, PK is done etc I could tidy her up and spread her out even more and let her get on with a big bloom.

Here she is from above, with the BBK top right and the CR top left....
    NQ.JPG

... from the front you can see she takes up the entire width!
    group 2.JPG

She's got a long way to go.

The Blackberry Kush on the other hand, is nearly done....
    BBK 1.JPG

She stands 67cm tall, her buds are purple and filling out nicely.
    Here's a closer look...
    BBK 2.JPG

The main cola is very odd, it has 3 side buds and a central bud. It seems like the 3 outer buds are growing faster than the centre one, so I'll have to be careful about mould there later on.
    BBK 3.JPG

I didn't re-stake her and I'm not too worried about the leaf appearance, that's all external fan damage from when I had a bit of a crisis earlier in the grow.
She's supposed to be a 70 day finisher, and I expect her to perhaps go a few days over that, so it won't be long now!!

    Finally the Chronic Ryder...
    CR 1.JPG

A thick jungle of a plant, so I took the opportunity to chop out any straggly stems and open her out a bit as well.
As she's taller than the BBK, at 76cm, I switched them over as I can get the lights higher up on the left, if needed...
    CR 3.JPG

As you can see from her main cola, she'll go a few weeks longer than the 65 days she's advertised at...
    CR 2.JPG

From the left side door you can see how the CR is placed, with the BBK behind, both taking up the back half of the tent. The NQ is there on the right doing her thing...
    group 3.JPG

Thanks for looking in, have a good 'un!

    Day 62 - photo update
  • I can't believe what I'm reading sometimes, people filling up buckets lined with rubbish bags with.... petrol!!!
DRILLING holes into peoples tanks and draining off the fuel!!!
It staggers me how stupid people are... and yet we still want to come home! Ha ha!

Anyway, I had a bit of time yesterday and took a load of pics.... day 62.
Starting as you open the tent...
    day 62 NQ 2.JPG

The Night Queen's at the front obscuring the view to the Chronic Ryder behing on the left, and the Blackberry Kush on the right.
See how I've angled my Skyline 400 LEDs for the NQ.

If I tiptoe and hold the camera high above, this is what you can see...
    day 62 group 2.JPG

but it's probably easier to see by looking from one side.....
    day 62 group 1.JPG

So lets have a closer look at the Night Queen with the lights off...
    day 62 NQ 1.JPG

You might have spotted the Blackberry Kush in the group photos today.....
    day 62 BBK 1.JPG

With the lights off, you can see the heavy purple buds more clearly....
    day 62 BBK 2.JPG

From above you can see there's a good amount on the way....
    day 62 BBK 4.JPG

As I mentioned last time, she's got this weird main cola that has 3 buds growing out the side with a central bud....
    day 62 BBK 5.JPG

Here's a closer look. I opened it out a bit and it was pretty moist inside, so I now have an air circ fan pointing directly at that spot...
    day 62 BBK 6.JPG

It certainly smells good, I can't wait to smoke some tasty blackberry bud again!
    day 62 BBK 7.JPG

Lastly the Chronic Ryder (ahhhh the Chronic!).....

The Skylines are deceptive, as they are on 24 hours a day, it's not often I see them in natural light....
    day 62 CR 2.JPG

    Plenty of bud developing....
    day 62 CR 3.JPG

The main cola is filling out well, but there's still a good 3-4 weeks left in her I think....
    day 62 CR 4.JPG

Here's a nice shot showing some sparkles....
    day 62 CR 5.JPG

I'm pretty happy with the Chronic... I might just open her out a bit more if I can find some room in the tent!

That will do for now, I'm off to drive around aimlessly till the tank's almost empty, then I'll fill her up again and spend the evening doing doughnuts in the yard!

    Day 72 - BBK crop
  • I decided to crop the Blackberry Kush yesterday, day 72.
I gave her about 3 days of flushing, then one more day without anything, moved her out from the tent into the main garage, and set up for the chop.

Here she is, all ready to go.....
    day 72 BBK 01.JPG

I thought I should open her out a bit more so you can see how full of bud she is....
    day 72 BBK 02.JPG

The shadows of the bud cast onto the garage door by the flash, makes those buds look really really fat.... if only that were really the case.
Here she is without flash and shadowing.....
    day 72 BBK 03.JPG

    Still not bad though, eh?
    From above.....
    day 72 BBK 04.JPG

The buds are solid and go all the way down.....
    day 72 BBK 05.JPG

I turned her 180° for another view.....
    day 72 BBK 06.JPG

With the LED lights off, you can really see the purple.

I took this shot of the main cola from above so you can see the riot of colour in the chunky cluster of buds....
    day 72 BBK 07.JPG

This is the main cola from the side....
    day 72 BBK 08.JPG

Some more cola shots with the flash on...
    day 72 BBK 09.JPG

    day 72 BBK 10.JPG

    day 72 BBK 11.JPG

The purple colouration was vivid throughout the whole plant. This is a shot of the main stem, deep inside.....
    day 72 BBK 12.JPG

... and lower down you can see how she produced so many branches.....
    day 72 BBK 13.JPG

So I took her down, manicured and hung the stems in cardboard boxes, keeping the sugarleaf in the freezer ready for my next Canna Coconut Oil cook up.

That just leaves the Chronic Ryder and the Night Queen, I'll post that up as a separate update, thanks for taking a look in!

Day 73 - not forgetting the CR and NQ
  • With the Blackberry Kush out of the tent, its a bit more roomy in there....
    day 73 Group 1.JPG

The colossal Night Queen on the left, and the Chronic Ryder behind to the right, day 73.

I took advantage of the extra space and opened the CR up a bit more....
    day 73 CR 1.JPG

She's a bushy girl, and her buds are looking great.....
    day 73 CR 2.JPG

Here's a closer look at the main cols...
    day 73 CR 3.JPG

She must have about 2-3 weeks left in her, I'm just seeing a few pistils turning orange, and the trichomes are clear to milky.

The Night Queen will perhaps go a littler longer still, she's certainly one of those monster's I've been on the hunt for!!!
    day 73 NQ 1.JPG

    Nice long candy canes
    day 73 NQ 2.JPG

Here's the main cola. Regular readers will agree that she has filled out a lot in the last week! I've been giving the Bud Candy again after a year long Aussie wide drought of the stuff.
    day 73 NQ 3.JPG

That's it for today, I hope you enjoyed the pics. My back is killing me after all that cropping, but I know it's gonna be all worth it in the end!

    Days 80 & 82 - sticky fat buds galore
  • So the Blackberry Kush is in jars, 4.89oz dry or 138.6g, and test smokes have been lovely. After a month of curing I'm looking forward to some nice tasty heavy gear!

That leaves the final 2... if you remember, I had a 4th plant, a Jack Herer, which turned out to be a photoperiod plant.
I don't have the room or time to do a photo, so I took her out of the tent, and shoved her in an old cardboard box, and left her in the garage to die.

So yeah, just the final two plants in the tent - lights on......
    day 80 group 1.JPG

The Night Queen on the left, and the Chronic Ryder on the right.

    Here they are lights off....
    day 80 group 4.JPG

Lots of bud on them both! I got shamed into giving them more feeds by @hope2grow and @WildBill after my last post, so I've moved upto 2x daily feeds about 12 hours apart. It has really made a difference, and those buds are really fattening up!!

The Chronic is loaded with fat stubby buds.....
    day 80 CR 1.JPG

    Here's the main cola....
    day 82 CR 1.JPG

a closer look at that grease.....
    day 82 CR 6.JPG

Looking at the buds more closely, you can see loads of new growth, white pistils growing over the more mature underlying bud..... time to chop before she makes loads of foxtails.

The Night Queen is also just about done. Here she is from the front door....
    day 80 NQ 1.JPG

.... and from the back door....
    day 80 NQ 2.JPG

The main cola is a whopper....
    day 80 NQ 5.JPG

... and what's below is looking good too. Solid bud all the way down those long stems....
    day 80 NQ 7.JPG

Here's a closer look at that main cola....
    day 82 NQ 4.JPG

... and one of the lower buds.....
    day 82 NQ 1.JPG

I had to take a couple of shots to fit it all in!
    day 82 NQ 3.JPG

and you can see the buds are solid and covered in trichomes... no fluffy shit!!!
    day 82 NQ 7.JPG

Have a good close look at those trichs....
    day 82 NQ 5.JPG

I would like to say how much I'm looking forward to smoking the scissor hash, but I broke my fucking bong the other day. the quartz banger and the bubbler are fine but the main bong.... I'm gutted. It was a dear old friend who served me well.

Yesterday I started flushing the Night Queen, I only plan to flush for 2 days, and hope to start chopping her this weekend, closely followed by the Chronic.
It's gonna be backbreaking work, I hate cropping. The Chronic will be the hardest as she's so leafy.
On the bright side, I'm gonna have a shitload of bud to keep me going well into the New Year, so stop whining Tee (I hear you say)!!!

We've applied to leave Australia, but have been denied twice now. Apparently having frail parents, one of whom's only got 3 months left isn't a good enough reason for us to leave this country. I thought this place stopped being a Prison yonks ago.
It looks like were stuck here for a while longer so I think I'll have to decide soon what to plant next.... I fancy some Blue Amnesia, but we're coming up to Summer now, and temps and humidity will be sky high, making growing even more difficult than it's already been.... I might have to delve deep into my collection and do some photoperiods instead.
I'm not sure when the next house inspection is, but it can't be far away. Ideally I'd like to have another 4 plants on the go, no more than 4 weeks old, so I can pack them away for the inspection, then get going with flowering them after the Obergruppenfuhrer comes for a visit Screws turn our cell over
lovely Lady from the rentals place joins us for a refreshing pre Christmas drink on the verandah.

That's enough for this post, thank you for checking in!

Days 86 to 88 - The big chop
  • You've grown the Night Queen a couple times now haven't you? Do you particularly like that strain or is it just an easy grow?
I really love the strain, it hits hard and the taste is lovely.... normally they are a standard size, but this pack I've got at the moment appears to have more of the elusive BIG pheno. What a shame!

On Friday, I took all her fan leaves off in readiness for the big chop....
    NQ 1.JPG

Whatever way you turn her, all you can see is bud the whole way down....
    NQ 2.JPG

She has long stems that should be easy to manicure.... just snip the sweetleaf off and hang them!!!
    NQ 3.JPG

From an overhead angle, you can see how the staking allowed the light to get all the way down...
    NQ 4.JPG

Even without that huge main cola, she's still a big girl!!
    NQ 5.JPG

From above (and on tiptoe with my camera as high as I can hold it)...
    NQ 6.JPG

As predicted she was an easy crop, done on Saturday - day 86, and ended up with this bunch of stems to hang...
    NQ 7.JPG

I hung those 15 beauties in a box, and sorted out the rest of her bounty....
    NQ 8.JPG

.... but I couldn't fit it all on one sheet of paper, so here's the last of the amazing Night Queen...
    NQ 9.JPG

That left the Chronic Ryder. I chopped out the leafy shit and poxy weedy flowers from her depths...
    CR 1.JPG

There was a LOT of it... I should have stripped her out in early flowering really, but I can use the crappy flowers for making Canna Coconut oil, as I will with the rest of the manicured sweetleaf.
    CR 3.JPG

So this is how she looked on Sunday morning, ready for the chop....
    CR 2.JPG

From above, you can see just how fat those colas are!!!
    CR 4.JPG

She took a lot longer to take down, but by Monday night, she was done. I would have done more on Sunday night, but I was too distracted by the mighty Hammers beating Spurs, and then the 5-0 thrashing of Man U by Liverpool!

I used my trusty hangers, and filled the tent up with my harvest. Not something I usually do, I normally put it all in boxes, but I'm worried about the neighbours, and the tent is free for a change - I won't be planting again for a few weeks.

The 3 hangers with the fat buds at the front are the Chronic Ryder, then you can make out 3 other hangers, one at the top, and 2 behind, all Night Queen, along with those 15 long stems that are in the box.

I'll keep an eye on how they dry, I'm expecting 10-14 days, but maybe more as it's a bit humid at the moment. Temps are in the 30°C's so that will also affect things.

That's it for now, I'll be back with the weights once I've jarred them. Thanks for checking in!
