Harvest & Curing The Water Cure

Ok

Well you can try nonsense all you want

And scoff the first person to try an explain that it is nonsense.

. Next thing you know they'll be telling us we can make hash with dry ice and rosin with a set of hair straightener

And how you make sauce with your tomatoes has nothing to do with how you let them finish ripening when you pick them

So apples to oranges, but thanks for trying to chime in

My pleasure :D ... after modding canna forums for over 5 years, you get to meet all sorts of crazies who think they know more than they do.
And the OP (who has been site admin since conception and doesn't "pretend" to know his onions either) ... no doubt has met even more of them

I was only teasing because it's silly.

Your above analogy makes no sense. (at all) It's not even apples and oranges ... if you wanna use those fruits - it's just oranges (or apples ... but not both - unless we're talking about drying AND curing ... and not just curing)

If my humidity was permanently rocking in the 90%-100% my ripening tomatoes would probably be screwed. ..... If only there were a solution for that senario for outdoor non humidity controlled environment for canna. I dunno ..... maybe a water cure

Necessity is the mother of invention.

Keep the bad vibes coming amigo ... you'll make no friends that way

:d5:

p.s i don't recommend water curing (based on NG's and others experiences)

not here to make friends tootz.. here to spread and take information..nothing more, dont like people to challenge ideas.. then pick a safe space sonwflake

Heyyy - hang on there cup cake. :D

I love challenging ideas - the whole myth busting thread is setup for that.
Taking information is a great way to learn - AFN is chock full of very experienced growers with many many years of experience.

It's great to share too! We encourage grow threads that share your style and methods and personality.

Having been growing for a whole three months (check your welcome thread), perhaps a bit more research is needed before jumping in elbow first, but again, if you've got something to share - it's encouraged.

Disregarding something (that's been tested if you read the thread) that you don't belive to be true ... "just because" isn't really sharing anything other than an unfounded opinion really.

I'm trying to be nice - despite your disgraceful language in your PM to me. We don't ban someone for just "disagreeing" .... so your account is safe ... if you can remember your manners.

How about we turn this bad vibe around??

:vibe:

You can jump off a cliff and still survive..does not make it correct...or what is actually the purpose.

Curimg has nothing to do with nutrients....per say..not like fat cells of animals etc...they convert to energy as they are absorbed
Curing is to get rid of excess MOISTURE chlorophyll..nothing more.. any other reason is wives tale guesstimates

drowning your plants to cure is against the purpose and shows people need to research gardening more, not following what workrd once..someone told you, the third time they tried it

Its not my usual method but if your looking to make low taste and smell edibles its a good way to go. Removed the grassy taste right out of it and the smoke was really smooth. I like air the best but i had an abundance of bud that time and gave her a go. One of our mods muddy waters does it occasionally too as many others with good success. Give it a try and prove us wrong. If you live and die by science like i do you both prove and disprove theories by experiment.

I will be trying the water cure this week. I have a super stealth Grow that produced a single bud that should fit inside a pint jar with room to spare. I will post back with my results.

Good luck. Remember to use r/o water and change it everyday.....24 hrs to get best results.

IMHO - It seems to me like a big hassle to do to achieve the same results when just doing a wash like I do when harvesting. The end result after air drying, couple weeks of curing in jars is a very smooth clean smoke that tastes excellent. Everyone who has smoked it has commented on how smooth and clean it is in comparison to everything else they have smoked.

Mushroom growers grow on moist grains, many will soak them for days at a time which can risk contamination. So many will change water everyday like the water curing, but some will put in additives like small amounts of bleach or antibacterial soap to stop growth. I think adding a bit of salt might be a better option here, or you could add small amounts of bleach and none on the last few days.

That's actually a much better idea than you might have realized. I don't mean simply adding salt, here's what I propose and am gonna try:
  1. Soak in distilled water for 6 hrs
  2. Change water
  3. Soak in a brine for 3 hrs
  4. Change water
  5. Soak in distilled water over night
  6. Goto 1
  7. Repeat for 3 days, leave the salt on the last day and do 3x 6hr soaks in just distilled water
Since there is going to be no salts in the distilled water but there is salt in the plant cells, the water will be sucked in and dilute that liquid. When you then soak them in a salty liquid the water, with everything it's mixed with will be sucked out again (Provided there's more salt in the water than the plant, use tds meter to make sure there is). I think you call it osmotic pressure in english... meats have been cured like this for a while, the distilled water however is to leech that salt from the plant again more effectively alongside anything else that's water soluble.
