Grow Mediums The Coco Home Thread -- Calling ALL Coco Growers!!!

I use botanicare coco outta the bag, not brick, and it's always spot-on without rinsing. It's nutrient buffered but not as hot as the bricks

Oh they have lots of ready to go coco stuff but if I use it then what the hell am I going to do with the rest of my day. Mixing up my coco takes the better part of a afternoon and thats just fine with me. As long as I'm only a 4 on the pain scale I can stay busy this way:thumbs:
Feck mixing it up im to buzy working it just seems a lot of work romeo when you can just buy the stuff i use and just pour into the pot , but as you said if you have plenty time on your hands why not mate i know what your saying :peace:

Looking around at what is locally available, a line called "Optimum Hydroponix" seems to be in every store.
Anyone have any experience with them?

that coco looks spot on LL and if im correct around £ 15 sterling so thats spot on as well mate with uk prices , dont know about the nutes though :peace:

Rebel , i think its swings and roundabouts with coco but 47 bucks for a bag fook me mate thats expencive i only pay £15 a bag (UK) and remember you can use cheaper versions but contact the maker and just ask if it needs washed,...YOU need to check this...

You all may think I'm crazy, stupid, lazy, cocky lmao or all of the above but you MUST understand one very important thing... I live in a Rural area and a State where there is NOT ONE SINGLE Hydro Shop... but there ARE tons of General Stores/nurseries/garden centers, etc... is why I was using Promix BX. It was readily available. In all actuality if I make the drive to the nearest Hydro Store (3 - 3.5 hours round trip depending on traffic) the bag of CANNA Coco THERE is probably 20 bucks or so (sorry I don't know how much that is in pounds... ah, wait... let me use my converter here...) OK roughly 13 pounds... But they charge double for shipping... which I have to have it shipped in from California as it is the cheapest site I could find on the net) so that's what bumps it up to $47. Now, when I sit down and literally calculate whether it's CHEAPER to ship it or to buy gas to drive there... it's cheaper to ship it. So they "got me over a barrel" so to speak.

I've been reading on the CANNA US site and they pre wash it so in theory I should be able to just fill up my bags and go. I can put a seed right in this stuff no?? Minor details... LMAO

That's another thing fellas... I don't have that kind of time. I have a lot of daily responsiblities that take up day time hours and sometimes into the evenings... Usually it's after midnight before I get to my girls... Not that they don't get pampered LOL just they get it late nights LOL

Thanks for all your help my friends!! I have a 50L bag on the way as I type so hopefully Monday it will be here and I can start playing in the Coco LOL

i know exactly where your coming from rebel :D can you imagine how many hydro stores would have pop'd up if the med bill would have passed

question why can you use coco only 3 times

Hi Rebel good choice on the cannca coco also the one LL was looking at a few posts back looked good as well mate and yes just pore it into your pots and water/feed with your desired feed mix i would recommend

Nutes to wet coco before planting seedling or seed

cal/mg 0.5ml per lt
Root stim 1ml per lt
A + B grow as req'd to get the mix to approx EC 0.5 Ph 5.8 ( note ive done it stightly different to this in my diary but im playing about a bit , this way is bomb proof mate )

Please note this is the way i do it and theres many different ways and mixes you can use but ive found this works for me also ive just found out that your better putting the cal/mg in first and mix well with the fresh water then add the root stim then a + b grow . if your on a budget just use the A + B grow to get the right ec then ph to 5.8

use the a + b to get the ec to around 0.4 / 0.6 no more and this will do them for a few days then start to up it mate , dont be tempted to add more mind there babies , how would you like to come out the womb looking for a tit and someone puts a 16oz steak down for your breakfast , lol , know what i mean

Sniper , yes you can re-use the coco , personaly i dont , but if you do as far as i know as long as your last grow went fine with no major probs or bugs thats fine and i think you just have to add extra zyme to break down the old root material mate

Rebel get a new diary up and running and we'll come along and watch your new experiance , lol , all though the cocos a tad dearer you'll find your yeild will also be better than normal mate to make up for the expence :smokebuds: :peace:

Coco Tip

When your hand watering coco you'll find that it moves about a bit and can cause pitting and sometimes can expose some of the roots at the top of your girls ( see pics ) this is eazy to rectify just gently with your hand smooth over the top of the coco with your hand and just cover them back up again takes all of 2 seconds to do guys

^ or mulch your container with rinsed hydroton ;-)

the reason i dont put the clay balls at the top L & S is i start my girls as low to the coco as i can get them, if not the balls will work a treat mate :smokebuds::peace:

Hee is another tip

I've known Rhizotonic for some time now (Using Canna Coco nutes), but getting acquainted with Root Juice too. Too early to say if it beats Rhizo or at the same level, but one thing is for sure... Root Juice has a pH of about 4 and Rhizo of about 9... Root Juice is a brilliant pH down additive! If it performs as well, I'll switch entirely and hit that pH 5.8 on the mark without acid !

Are you talking about Root Juice from Bio Bizz?

I myself use that like the first 2-3 weeks or growth and i really like it.
