Pull an ounce out of the bags and put it into a jar and burp it. That'll give you some smoke while the rest can cure in the bags for a while. Grove bag zippers don't like a lot of action
The zippers will last better with the proper unzip technique, still not forever, but longer than otherwise. The key is to grip the actual zipper material on both sides of the zipper with your fingertips or nails, and get the unzip started by prying the zipper material itself rather than pulling it apart by pulling on the bag material. The problem is that the zipper itself is different plastic than the main bag. It is welded onto the bag material, but the weld is weak, so pulling on the bag material will eventually separate one side of the zipper from the bag material, and then the bag is pretty much buggered.
OTOH, it could still be heat sealed, or folded and clipped. Careful folding and clipping can be quite effective, but not quite as good as the zipper.
