interesting factoids: In Colombia brisket is called "sobrebarriga," literally "above the belly." It's often used to make "carne desmechada," pulled beef. In Cuba they call it "ropa vieja," literally "old rags":

In my youth I had a pretty afro-Colombian girlfriend, Magnolia (RIP). When she invited me home to meet her family, she saved one of her family's favorite delicacies for me, a fist-sized chunk of fried brisket fat, with nary a bit of meat on it.
