Believe me I get it. It’s just that blizzards are yearly so couple that with I’ve never been in one and you have a recipe for disaster lmao! I’ve been through a few shakes in my 60 years and I have personally experienced only one that was big, the Northridge quake in 1994. It was a 6.7 in the San Fernando valley which is about 40 miles from me. Two of my 3 daughters (all adults) have an interest in Texas and Wisconsin so there’s possibilities I move later because I would love to have all of them out of California. My neighborhood is great but the state overall is a shithole.I'll take my blizzards over earthquakes just sayin
Transiting Oregon Inlet, under the bridge down that way is another tricky one….

The state has built the bridges through there fairly recently. Have surfed there a couple times when larger storms rolled through. Currents were a biotch!!!
@Mara Cachafa, you are correct with houses being on stilts. A FEMA requirement there for new construction. A lot of house on Ocracoke were and are older and lower. There is a breakwater formula and different zones that FEMA uses to calculate the minimum height requirements. I've always worked on historical homes, but have helped friends with jobs on coastal/marsh homes.
Did most of the exterior trim work on this place helping a friend out. $16 mil. Worth a lot more now. Kiawah Island, SC
