You've got beaches without people everywhere?
I am really sad to hear that Pinky, that must be incredibly discouraging. Good luck with it, I hope that treatment defeats the infection in spite of the uncertain source.Well the doctors basically just said that they can't find the source of the bacteria so all they can do is make me comfortable.
The outer banks rules, until the hurricanes show up….
I sailed a boatload of pungent S.American herb into Ocracoke Inlet in the 1970's. As I remember, all the beach houses were on stilts in case of storm surge. The inlet is marked on the nautical charts as "enter only with local knowledge," because the sandbars move with every storm.Hurricanes do suck, but when you live on the east coast, they are just a way of life.
There's a ferry now with just people(no cars) that runs to Ocracoke Island from Hatteras. Went over for the day and was talking with some locals at a bar. In 2019 they had a 7' wall of water come over the whole island! Trashed everything that wasn't higher.
If built correctly and not right on the beach, houses can survive quite easily. A friends house in Corolla in the outer banks has been there since the mid 70's with no major damage. Just gotta build right and be prepared!
Took this pick on Ocracoke Island
