Kiddie pools or i might a local tray at a hydro shop

Show me a picture please, i was thinking about getting that autovalve kit for placing anywhere, only like $45
Sorry mate, I searched for pics, and could not find the ones that I am sure I had a few years back. Just, for example, nail a square (or whatever proportions) frame of 2x4's on edge, nailed together at the corners. The size of the wood won't cause a problem, the plant pots will always be >1.5 inches from the walls of your tent. Once the frame is together put it in your tent, lay poly in it, fold it at the corners so you can take the bottom right to the lower edge corners of the frame, staple to the top edge of the boards, and you have your 4x4 (or whatever) tray, waterproof to the top edge of the 2x4's. If you want to save a bit of floor space, you could make the frame out of some ~3" strips of plywood.

When I use this setup for three ten gallon (so called) bags, I used 2x4's for the sides of the space, and bent arborite around the rounded ends to match the pots. I also put foam in the spaces between the pots to prevent excess water when the valve floods the tray. I would be careful about trying to subirrigate a bunch of pots with an autovalve if the tray has lots of space between pots. The extra volume of water between the pots will increase the amount that plants need to use before the flooded portion of the pot medium is aerated as liquid gets absorbed by the plant. A simple square tray will work a treat for just containing leaks or the like, but for subirrigation, I would try to reduce the volume of water between the pots.

I think I have given up on autovalves except for soil/water only grows. Next grow, I plan to use automated top watering like I did for my last solo run. The run will be in coco in ~2gallon pots. Should be another learning experience.

Kiddy pools work great, if the round shape is not a problem. Mine worked perfect for mixing soil, but would not suit filling a 4x4 efficiently for me. If you could find a square one... :pighug:

I've done quite a bit of brainstorming on this. I think my solution personally would be the large 24"x36" drywall mixing tubs 2 side by side. They're 8" deep and way cheaper than any other option I could find outside of rigging something from pvc and pond liner.

I've used Jack's commercially; it's a great system when you dial in.

Oh, then some of us will have questions for you!

@Cerebral Goo : You see this? Heck, Ol' Hobbes knows a thing or two about the Jacks!

I think I may start a new thread and try to tag all the Jacks users. Perhaps we can winnow down a schedule that works well for everyone. Or at least addresses a couple of hiccups I've run into.

Or a kiddie pool shaped tent haha

cheap tray is just a 3 or so inch high frame around the perimeter lined with a couple layers of 6mil poly. A roll will last a lifetime. I use this setup for subirrigating 3 ten gallon bags with one autovalve. Works a treat for soil/water only. :pighug:

Master it and show me and i'll buy some! Sounds like a good idea with a thread about jacks.

Who I complaining about raffles? I just said I gave up on it. Lol the competition was fierce and I won some smokin screws and won other contests on the site also. Never mad or upset about it. I just figured the people that entered more than me probably deserved the win you know, they worked for it. Won a Grove bags giveaway and won Dos Si Dos from Gorilla Seeds in the non raffle section. This site is the coolest. I'm happy with my winnings and grateful for the fun to be had. I think we should do some grow offs and voting for some prizes. That sounds like loads of fun. We should have a grow off on the site like 3 times a year. (January-April, May-August, September-December) If noone wants to run it I will volunteer my time to become a member of staff on the site to help run it. I could ask for companies to provide prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd and set it all up each competition. Anyone else like this idea if staff would be willing. If they're not willing I would love to run it. @Moderators @Staff (I don't know how this tag stuff works) I just seen others do it so I was gonna try this to see if it works to tag staff on the site.
