Fun fact….participation trophies have been a thing since the 1920’s…and became commonplace in the 60’s. They were a thing when I was a kid. It’s just a bandwagon argument folks like to mount.

I used to have a whole shelf of them, but they were kinda embarrassing to get before the kids on the good teams But they still came with a free ice cream cone

I consider them more as guilty pleasures They were treats growing up. I'll still grab a box of those, starcrunch, cosmic brownies or funny bones and stash then when I get sent to do the grocery shopping

Never heard of them until the last 10 or so years. Fact aside, kids are overly coddled today to their own mental and physical detriment. Without getting political and conspiracy theory, I personally think it by design. And yes, that has been happening since the 60's
