You have a nice thing going there! :thread:

Hope you can improve/fine tune your system over time! Will be watching with interest! :pop:

My room is 60's temp. my closet and homemade grow box with 6 cfls 158w gives heat so I have a mini fan blowing air in my closet. Also a another fan mounted to my window blowing in fresh air. I keep my closet doors open a tiny bit for good air circulation.

looking forward to the result 240w is a fair amount of juice in a space that size
i would make a second outlet and put that second fan as another outake or drill out a larger hole and put a 4-5" one in instead of the 3.5" one
where the panels hard to make

Thanks for all the interest in my grow, i know that I am a serious newb if we are talking REAL cannabis growing experience i cant even compare with you guys so to even get replies on this thread was cool for me.:D
Ill be updating pix every week or if something interesting is going on with the system or the plant so stay tuned.

Okay down to the nitty gritty. Muddy, I don't think an inline fan is an option at the moment. I looked at how they are mounted and there weight, even though it would be awesome to get one now and then, later, when I take this box apart and build something bigger (My plan all along) I would already have the proper fan mounting it to the plywood backing of the growbox is damn near impossible. Agito, the main reason i am using a growbox is for stealth and I would defiantly have put another exhaust fan in if I wasn't using a carbon filter, but buying a larger diameter fan is an interesting option and one that I should have thought of a while ago lol so thank you i am going to look for a good 122mm or maybe even bigger cpu fan to run. I like cpu fans they work good, but if anyone has any other ideas please feel free to post!:peace:

What type carbon filter are you planning on using? If it's a Phatt, Phresh Air or something similar, that PC fan won't be strong enough to push the necessary amount of air through it. Since you are growing Diesel Ryder, the absolutely smelliest auto that's been bred, proper odor filtering is going to be a must.

Muddy, im using this DIY carbon filter. it is very oversized for my box and it is pushing through instead of pulling. the elbow and the type of ducting also cause resistance.

my current exhaust pushes 80 cfm, temp with all three lights on and fans running is 84 F, when i put this carbon filter on I expect to loose a lot of airflow and temps to rise exponentially, so im just curious about how much airflow I really need. I mean should i be looking at 150cfm or even more than that?

Thanks for keeping interested and keeping me thinking and hopefully, with help from all of you i can get this running like a dream.

Agito, the panels arn't hard to make ;). learning how to make an effective LED grow panel and planning out how you are going to do it is the hardest part. Getting everything you need to make them in one place is the second hardest part. Putting it all together isn't all that bad, although time consuming as there is a lot of soldering that needs to be done. If you havn't soldered before than i wouldn't recommend even attempting to make one of these panels. To be honest just buy one, if you don't have the tools or access to cheap materials than your much better off. Im blessed to have these things available to me as well as a little bit of a brain and a lot of determination and really determination is all you need. I made a website for a speech, but i used a powerpoint instead kinda crazy that I did that. Without me explaining it there may be some confusion but ill attach it so you can take a look. http://led90lights.webs.com/ Just go to the photos and youll see a section for Required tools, materials, and a diagram for the way I wired them up. Enjoy :toke::toke: pass..

At 84 degrees you're right on the edge of it being too high, so I also think it will get too high once you install the filter. The off the shelf filters are CFM rated and the fan should more or less match. With your DIY one, of course that's an unknown, so I guess you won't know for sure till you try it. I suspect you'll probably need to double the CFM of your current fan, especially since you are pushing the air through it. I'd give it a try now and see where your temps end up at. Make any changes or adjustments before they start to stink bad. Don't underestimate just how much DR stinks.

Hey guys, and gals? kamko here with a little update on my system. Yesterday i came across a deal I couldn't pass up and now, along with a bunch of other equipment, I have a 5 lb C02 tank with regulator and tubing.:booya: I have the thing hooked up and ready to go.

I do not have a Co2 sensor in this system so I have no way to measure the levels and I really don't like playing the guessing game with this Co2 enrichment thing so If anyone has some info on this subject I would greatly appreciate some input. I will be doing research on my own and instead of getting new fans I may just say F it and use the Co2 and let my temps get pretty high but im not sure exactly how this works yet. signing off for the night .
