So from what I understand 54degree dew point is the main thing. Would a drying tent work similarly if you calculate it to the 54degree dew point?

For example, if I set my temp controller and de/humidifier for the drying tent to 68F, 60%, that should be about a 54F dew point. Would I be able to just leave my plants hanging to dry and cure like that? If you're maintaining 54F dew point, is it just the excess air exchange where your losing the terps?

I can see the benefits, but it's hard to justify the price. The website says it holds up to 4 pounds of dried bud, how accurate is that?

Edit: I found down in the FAQs it says 2.25pounds of wet bud. I'm assuming they meant 4 ounces?

Edit2: Gone back through the thread and saw frank said up to 13 ounces done.

So, if you watch this video, and read between the lines a little bit, you’ll realize the Cannatrol is repurposed technology from the culinary world….. it’s the same or similar technology used to dry cheese and cured meat.

I believe it’s more than just maintaining a dew point….

In the default setting, the unit takes the wet flower from its harvested moisture level…slowly down to a set dew point over the course of four days (it’s lower than the 54f dew point) , holds it for a day, then slowly brings it up to the 54f dew point. The amount of water that comes out in the first 48 hours is unbelievable, really.

My point being, this is more than just setting the dew point. I don’t know what all is in it, technology wise….

Yes, it’s expensive. :pass:

From what I'm understanding is it's just 54DP + consistent VPD?

For a little bit more you can get a freeze dryer and dry/cure in 24 hours.

How much is a little bit and how's the chamber size compare? I'd need at least 2 cannatrol to get a 4x4' harvested.

Cannatrol is 6 trays, doesn't say size of trays, guessing 20"x 20" based on the overall product dimensions. Maybe 2400 sq inch tray space. 4800 for two(up to about 1.5lb) 4 days to dry and 4 more to cure.

The freeze dryers I've found online are smaller. One for the price of 2 cannatrols. 6 trays 9"x20" 1080 sq inch of tray space. about 1/4pound at a time. So 5-6 days to dry and cure the same amount? Does it really cure the bud that quickly?

So it sounds a bit more complicated than I was thinking. Thank you.

Freeze dryers are a lot more expensive. I've looked at them before and I have some prepper/survivalist/homsteader friends who use them. They all have Harvest Right units and the small one is close to $2k and that's with the basic pump. The better pump is like a $1500 upgrade.

Freeze dyers are cool but I think you want the right tool for the job.
