New Grower BillyWu's first grow - Think Different autoflowering

its pretty simple i did one ages ago of growing a beard out of boredom.
heres a good simple video on how to do it with photoshop.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e--F4IoIDpY&t=4m14s
if you dont have photoshop im sure there are others or you could geta copy somewhere.
ive linked to halfway in before that hes just correcting photos which wouldnt apply as these wont be perfect anyway and not needed.
i try to take photos in similar angles/positions so i can see the difference from day to day myself and have them in dated folders..
too many. might do one myself.

if your photos are huge they might take way too long to render depending on your pc so if you are correcting anything before following that vid make them whatever size you want the animation at the end beforehand with a bulk editor. probably fine either way anyway

Thank you..

Gonna try and simulate some wind in the environment for a few hours a day. I've got a small non-oscillating fan with two speed settings. Would it be okay to have the fan about half way up the tent blowing down on the seedling? Wanna try and strengthen it up so it grows bigger :]

no worries lowcoast.

yes thatll be fine i have that exactly right now running 24 hours. just make sure its not too strong you want a breeze not a gale. they should move a little but not get thrown around. also if it is too strong you can deflect it off a wall or something so that it isnt directly blowing on them. last grow i had a fan pointed at the plants and the one closest eventually started getting dried out lower leaves and just looked tattered. its also good to let it blow across the area under the lights to keep temps down a bit if needed.

are you planning on having the fan running only a few hours on always or just to start off?

Gonna have it going always. I'll leave it on overnight until I wake up, so it'll get about 9 hours of simulated wind during lights on. Can't have it with lights off or it'll get too cold. I've altered the fan, there's a little breeze blowing down on the plant now. It's moving ever so slightly, so it's not too powerful :]

Try angling the fan diagonally onto the plant whilst still keeping it pointed up enough to keep the heat from the light circulating, that's how I had it and I never had any problems with weak stems, and with the Trainwreck I grew, weak stems are the main problem.

Also, I just attached a multiplug to the timer and let the fan go on and off with the lights since like you said, you won't be needing it when the light is off.

With regards to the nutrients, your soil has some doesn't it? That will last your seedlings 2 weeks, minimum. I underestimated the strength of nutrients and how quickly the plants respond to them...I gave less than the bottle recommended, but slightly more than forums recommended and the leaf tips got tiny nute burn within a day. If your soil has nutrients added, do NOT use more nutrients, if you burn your seedling you're gonna massively damage the plants potential, and it's not worth it just for a potential growth boost early on.

You're right about it being addictive, you won't be able to stop thinking about/checking her until she's done and when it is, you'll want to start it all over again. Just remember not to over-mother the plants. Of all things detrimental to the plant, most are caused by the grower being too full on.

Yeah my soil has nutrients in it, but the Formulex solutions and Root juice are designed with seedlings in mind so they're of a much weaker strength to begin with. I'll test it with weak doses and see how well it all goes :] If it gets slight burning then I'll stop nutrients until like you said, at least 2 weeks pass. Not a lot new with the plant right now, it's a bit taller and the true first leaves are getting quite big. Pictures later :] Also decided to go with Hydroponics & CO2 for my next grow, shouldn't be TOO expensive as I've got most of what I need already.

This she be a thread on its own. Great advice!

Any reason why you've chosen to use hydro? They produce more bud, admittedly, but it's my understanding that it's of lower quality. And you have to give a ludicrous amount of attention.

I dunno, I'm not a hydro guy and I never will be. I love it natural, in fact my future grows are gonna be entirely organic in soil. I used barely any nutrients for the Trainwreck, seriously. I'll show you the bottle sometime dude, I've still got most of it left and it's only tiny.

All this hype over different types of nutrients and hydroponics and co2 injection or whatever is, to me, just that - hype. You'll never, ever beat the quality and taste and smell of organic grown bud rooted in rich soil given nothing but right amount of love, attention, water, food and light. In the earlier buds at least, I definitely tasted even the tiny amount of nutrients I used in my grow and I flushed before harvest.

If you do it, though, I'll definitely be interested in seeing the set up. I hear they produce a lingering chemical smell, though.

This post may a rambler compared to the last ones, but I wasn't high when I posted those ;)

And thanks gettinggreen :)

Going with hydro for more specific control over nutrients and growing. Some people say soil tastes better, others say it's a load of rubbish so I have no idea what to believe. Gonna research hydro whilst the TD grows so I've got an understanding of it all.

As far as I know, all the biggest growers use soil. There must be a reason for that. Hydroponically grown weed does taste different, it's a fact. Saying it doesn't, is like saying tomatoes grown hydroponically taste exactly the same as tomatoes grown in soil, which they don't.

You might enjoy it more who knows, I just dislike smoking bud that's been grown purely out of nutrients - it's not natural and it shows.
