Grow Mediums Barney’s Farm LSD-25 (photo) in 8.5L Autopots w/coco, TF nutrients, and AutoCobs

View attachment 902144 I gotta say much respect on the cob conversion. I spent a ridiculous amount on the 450's I have and would love to Frankenstein them. The only problem is time I have a strong circuitry background but can see the cobs have some strange voltages will have to study this one. Here's something outside the "box" with autopots
Thanks, been years since I did any kind of electrical work so had to refresh my brain cells a little. Once you get remember Ohms law correctly the conversion is pretty straight forward. The PlatinumLEDs do make it easier because they have a decent case, heatsink, and drivers are okay. So with a little thermal paste, some 18 gauge bell wire and connectors, plus the COBs and holders you can upgrade that thing with a couple hours work. It actually took me longer to clean everything than to do the wiring.

And what are you up to with those big autopots? Looks like you are planning on growing some monsters.

Hey brother, the autopots are 2 1/4 gallon pots. If you look closely I have a insert around the smaller container to reduce the amount of water they will get. My thinking is by using a smaller pot I wouldn't need as much water, time will tell. Where did you get the parts for your conversion? I think I can handle the assembly, it's always nice to have a guide to follow. Plants are looking lovely p.s. haven't used ohms law scinse my apprenticeship.

This should have been a monster. I had issues with it and hopefully it will fill out. At 50" it was by far the biggest auto i I've had

I get all my parts from @BigSm0 ‘s website cobshop.net and I don’t think you can do better anywhere. Only calculations you really have to do is multiplying the max forward voltage (FV) of the COB by the milliamperes of the LED driver in the panel to determine how many COBs you can put on each driver and what wattage they will be running. On my P300 I ran two 1812 COBs in series on each driver. I only used two of the drivers leaving me with two spares per panel in case one of them dies. This gives me four cobs running at 33w each and with the fans each one uses 144w at the wall and is producing a much more efficient light.

When I pulled the panels apart I realized that each P300 had 4-5 ruptured leds. I mean they were blown out at the top of the LED. I couldn’t spot them by looking at the panel when it was on, mainly because of the brightness and the fact that I didn’t realize what I was looking at.

Nice idea with the Autopots. Glad you told me what you were doing cause I didn’t spot it to begin with. I might try using fabric pots in the trays one of these days. The one Bobbie is in seems to be doing fine sitting in a half inch of water. If I used something to cover the tray exposed to the lights she would probably bust her roots right through the sides of the pots.

Been traveling since Monday and haven’t had a chance to update since I pulled the ladies out of the tent on Monday. I cleaned out all the trays and lines. Loaded the reservoirs with about 7 inches of feed, which I have backed off the MC a little since I was getting some serious nutrient burn on one the the girls. I also switched to a cal/mag that had less N.

I can only hope everything goes well while I’m gone. Girls are about 22 inches from the lights and I think stretch is done so hopefully I won’t come home to some rogue cola wrapped around an AutoCob. Anyhow here are all the ladies under normal lighting. The day numbers all coincide with Monday’s date.

Happy Growing Everyone!

Got to get the group shot in. Always a must see. All is looking good. Nice to see.
:thanks: Always good to hear another opinion, just hoping they still look good when I get back. Although so far, every grow I have ever left for a week or more look much better than if I tend to them daily. I think the ladies are trying to tell me something.

Girls did well ------ Home Alone!
Doing well, I hope. They are still Home Alone! :smoking:
