Day 30

Greetings all,

Had some problems the last few days transitioning to bloom nutes, I made a post over at rollitup.org if anyone is stoned, bored, and wants to read up. Otherwise, All is going decent.

I am going to go ahead and note that I feel this grow suffered early from three things: Not being transplanted in the the aero system system soon enough (day 11 as opposed to day 6), not having the proper nutrient ratio due to the defective ppm meter, as well as a late arriving and much needed 2nd 450W LED light.

Now all pessimism aside, the plants are doing pretty awesome. The water level or nutrients don't fluctuate as much as I thought that they would, though the PH has been going through the roof lately and taking large amounts (compared to what I usually use to adjust ph) just to lower it.

I will be receiving my 2nd light this Friday so once I get that I will be arranging them side by side at about 16" in height.

I did lose 3 plants to herming on me, oh well.

I have 33 mugshots attached of each of the plants. Like I said, other pics can be viewed at rollitup.org of the last few days before now.

Stats thus far

Air temp - 70-79
Water temp - 73-80 (yikes!)
PH - 5.70 -5.80
PPM- 1150
EC - 1.4
Humidity - 35-50%
Light Cycle - 19 on / 5 off
Light Height - 19"

Nice, i can say i am jealous, killer setup. Did you build that yourself or ordered a kit? if so where did you get it from?

Thanks! It would be 10x better if I had killer grow knowledge to go with the rest of the package. lol. I am learning. I ordered everything from Ehydroponics.com piece by piece. Learned a lot so far, can't wait to apply that knowledge to my next grow.

Really hoping to step it up a notch after this new light arrives. I have some lost growth to try and make up for.

Looking good! One thing I noticed on some leaves are some burn spots. Just in case you want to give it a try, in aero your nutes don't need to be anywhere near 1100. I run mine at about 600-650ppm for photos in floer, and 350-400ppm for autos. I was running about 1000-1200 for just 2 days and it burned the crap out of my leaves (photos). They are about 6 weeks into flower, and it got corrected and now are looking fantastic at around 650ppm (.5 conversion).

Thanks for the tip. I did have an issue when first transitioning from the GH Flora nutes that were included with the Aeroflo to the Advanced Nutrients line-up. I read this link and adjusted accordingly. That was 4 days ago, the day before all my plants got burnt up. ugh. So I flushed and got the system running where it is at now. I am soo anxious over getting this additional light. I know it will help drive these girls to grow like wild. They only have roughly 36,000 lumens right now over 16 sq ft, so 2250 lumens per sq ft. It's eh I guess.

So I interestingly find this LINK today that disproves what Advanced Nutrients is saying to use as far as PPM's for a grow. It goes hand in hand with what The Medicine Man said. I soooooooooooo wish I would of had this information sooner so that I would not of burnt up my plants. Nutes are currently at roughly 900ppm.

I will be lowering it to about 700-750ppm as soon as the lights come back on.

UNANSWERED QUESTIONS

*Another thing that I am noticing is that the PH is climbing rapidly. I have to use quite a bit more PH down just to get it stabilized than before. Is this normal or is this is a sign of something bag? Also, is the use of sooooo much PH down bad for the plants/roots?

*
I purchased some Epsom salt the other day and put in only 30ml worth, which is about 3 tablespoons. I was doing some reading and found that 1 tablespoon per gallon is required. Is this true? I noticed when I added that little bit, that it jacked my PPM by about 100 as well as my EC by .2. Should I add more epsom salt? How much? If so, what should I set my PH at to take up CAL and MAG at the same time, since what leave coloring that I do find is of a cal/mag issue. Or should I just disregard using epsom salt considering I should have all of the highest quality magnesium that I need available in the Advanced Nutrients Connoisseur 2 part Blend + Bloom additives?

*My last res flush was last Thursday, at what point during the flowering cycle would have the least impact on growth to flush the reservoir again?

I am sooo close to getting this right. I have the desire to tinker with things as it is, but it doesn't help that I was given the wrong information to begin with. I can taste success brewing! Nothing but optimism right now, We're on the straight and narrow all the way to harvest.

I suspect AN was referring to growing photos. I've yet to see any of the nutrient manufacturers put up a nute schedule for autos.

I have a question for ya, i don't know a whole lot about hydroponics yet, i was looking at this system the other day and it seems as thou most of the kits out there the cups are really close together. With this system filling up all the cups do you think you will have an issue there?

Hey Muddy, I had a question for you. Do the LED lights affect the uptake of nutrients in any way at all? Also, I am getting this second light this weekend, you said 12-16" for flowering. I have a 4x4 footprint to cover. Each light has a 2x3 core footprint and puts out roughly 35,500 Lumens @ 450W. What distance from the canopy can you attest works "best"?

It's become more prevalent of a concern for me in these last few days of flowering for some, but to be quite honest, I have no idea how this plant is going to grow. I would like to hope for one large cola and few side branches but I will probably have a little crowding. I already have a general idea of how this is going to be looking within the next week or so so I will be doing a lot of manicuring of unnecessary leaves to expose as much light for the buds, as well as provide as adequate ventilation as possible.

Good question though, and we will see in about a week.
