Yes, they do take up more nutrients. With 95% usable light they eat it up faster. Additional cal/mag is almost a must throughout the whole grow, and most likely more P, especially in late flowering.

I would set them at about 14" and watch the top leaves for any signs of bleaching. If none, lower it a bit more. As long as you're getting good coverage over the whole grow, which you should with two lights in that size area, you can probably go to the low end of that range.

Hey Muddy, I had a question for you. Do the LED lights affect the uptake of nutrients in any way at all? Also, I am getting this second light this weekend, you said 12-16" for flowering. I have a 4x4 footprint to cover. Each light has a 2x3 core footprint and puts out roughly 35,500 Lumens @ 450W. What distance from the canopy can you attest works "best"?

I do keep my rez at around 750 for my photos in flower.

I figured that I'd top them out at 850ppm at week 4, then use 2ml per liter of Final Phase in distilled water for the final week of flower.

One other issue that I am having is 80 degree reservoir temps. I need to get a timer to run the pump 2 min on, 4 min off to help keep the pump from heating everything up. (just as a temp fix)

Interesting. I wonder if this would require reservoir flushes more often due to higher nutrient uptake possibly causing imbalances in the nutrient solution.

Day 31

Hello,

My bad for updating so soon, just wanted to show you the difference between yesterday and today. To me, the growth seems amazing! They are really sucking up the light under the LED, Poor guys on the outskirts of the core lighting area are struggling, they should have no problem making it to the weekend for their new light. If you haven't read all of the in between posts, I have been tinkering a lot lately with PPM's and have learned that there is no need to ever go over 1000PPM with an autoflower.

Lights are back on now and I just adjusted to 750PPM and can't wait to see what kind of positive results that I will see tomorrow. I have been slowly lowering it over the last 36 hoursand it's only getting better. If only I would have known sooner about the PPM on autos. :cuss:

Current Questions -

When should I flush my reservoir next? Week 2 of flowering starts Thursday, which was the last time I drained the reservoir. I want to get a hose in there after draining it, and spray the walls of the reservoir down and the spots where I have no air stones that nutes love to puddle up in, and screw up my PPM's on refill (I've learned this just recently)

Add Epsom salt with Advanced Nutrients Connoisseur nutrients or no?
(view current nute line-up on page 1)

Another thing that I am noticing is that the PH is climbing rapidly. I have to use quite a bit more PH down just to get it stabilized than before.
Is this normal or is this is a sign of something bag?

I wonder if using LED's would require reservoir flushes more often due to the higher uptake of nutrients possibly causing a nutrient solution imbalance?

Also, is the use of so much PH down bad for the plants/roots?

Stats thus far

Air temp - 75-79
Water temp - 73-80 (yikes!)
PH - 5.66 -5.90, usually on the low end at 5.7-5.8
PPM- 750
EC - 1.06
Humidity - 59-69% (Stabilizing itself higher, not sure if it's due to the rainy weather the last few days or the additional green growth.)
Light Cycle - 19 on / 5 off
Light Height - 19"

UPDATE -
I forgot to also add that I have been foliarly spraying Advanced Nutrients Bud Factor X via a dilution of .5ml per 1L of ph balanced water 10 minutes before the 5 hours lights out session. They receive a total of about 250ml of water/nutrient solution to the 30 plants per daily feeding. woot?!

Day 39

Greeting AFN,

Soooo, The light came on Saturday and I got her up and running and all I gotta say is DAMN. These guys are loving the extra light. I even went ahead and started doing some mild pruning due to crowding as well as lack of light to bud sites. Buds are developing, slowly. Not sure if its normal or not considering that I only have about 3.5 weeks till harvest. Can anyone chime in on this?

Stats thus far

Air temp - 72-83
Water temp - 77-80
PH - 5.6 -5.8
PPM- 750
EC - 1.06
Humidity - 50-58%
Light Cycle - 19 on / 5 off
Light Height - 13"

Sauce boss,
Nice looking grow buddy!! I would definetly say though that you are more towards the 5 to 6 weeks before they will be ready but only time will tell! Good Karma sent your way buddy!

Why do you think you have 3.5 weeks til harvest?
To be honest, I don't know. The seed package, as well as numerous websites show that it takes between 56-67 days from seed to harvest. I figured if it went longer than that, I'd risk losing out of the benefits of harvesting during the "prime". I am wanting amber triches, which I know occurs with waiting longer to harvest, just didn't want to harvest too late and possibly risk yield or potency.

I started on Nov 5th, 60 days from then would be Jan 4th, which is exactly 3 weeks from today.

Educate me?

Ok, because looking at those plants, it's a bit longer than 3 weeks to me. There was a period where you were feeding too much, right? Because that could stunt the growth a bit and give you an extra 7-12 days at the end. Do you have a 60x scope to look at the trich development? Because that'll tell you when it needs to be done. Seed packs and how others grow are always going to be a little different from your own grows. I check trich development starting about a week before the breeder says it should be done and then start to plan the harvest.

Damn nice! Subbed!

You have about 4-5 weeks left I think. No budformation almost. Take your time.

I use this to look at the trichs, $10.
