I doubt its eco friendly but you can spray a ring of wd40 round yer pots to keep the slimey fxxkers off unless they are already in??
my bird bought these trays on wheels to put big planters on and they have kept them off as well cos l think they are right chancers but with only 4 castors touchin the floor they have a struggle gettin into yer plants

Help Help I'm Melting - they're wilting... dunno about anyone else but I've been struggling in this heat (well me as well but my cabinet grow in particular) - it was fine for the first few weeks (nice and cool indoors in fact) - then all those thick south facing Victorian stone walls had absorbed all the heat they could and are now storage heaters. So even tho it's cooler outside for the last couple of days temps indoors are still rising - (great theory this thermal mass shite).... so the passive air intake temp is running between 26-28C night n' day which leaves the cabinet bouncing around at 31-32C by mid 20/4 cycle (it peaked at 34C one day until I switched off one light - I'm sure the Toof Decay in her last couple of days had little time to ponder - if the lights are getting dimmer - i'm getting less water and no nutients... omg \o/ I'm gonna die <<< said in that Douglas Adams way... and she was right too! Shortly to meet the curing jar.... (oh the indignity).

But yer that leaves a very stretchy Beary White pheno in the heat mid bloom, a pubescent Sour Hound and a baby Grape Crinkle all struggling under 1 light for most of the day :(

First year I've indoored in the summer = hmmm I think when I put in the hard ducting thru the wall I'm glad I put in 5" cause I feel an imminent fan / filter upgrade is required.

Anyone use any of the EC Temp controlled fans from these guys http://www.hyper-fans.com/

A bit overkill 80% of the time for what I need but it's the 20% when that extra airflow might be enough (it's unethical to propose air-con intakes in Scotland ffs!!), and I'd be hoping for a good deal of noise reduction in the winter months when it would be on it's lowest speeds (always useful in any stealthy grow).

I need to replace the existing 4" fan anyway (developing a rattle which requires a bash to quieten - until it feels like it again ha ha), and the filter is ending it's useful cycle of odourless wonders. So I'm already up for a fair £ cost anyway - it's whether I fork out for an EC fan n controller unit as an upgrade.

Any thoughts welcome :D

I think most of us are strugglin with heat(37c in me attic last wk)
Im thinkin that l should start a grow late may/early june next year and try and avoid the heat durin flower tho lm sure other growers could have told me that-live n learn
I dont grow commercially so l guess lve gotta roll with what lve got cos though l love growin weed, its only an interest/hobby that has nice perks! So l work with what nature throws at me rather than try to bend it to my will..erm ive got nowt else!!
Hope someone else has a bit more for yer mate

@Red Rupert I like the caster idea (never seen those) I have several large patio containers need moving about but are too heavy to lift - for me at least. As you say the casters become four defensible points - WD40 / Copper Wire << attached to the mains supply etc... fortunately this year the slithers here are withers as most have baked before reaching moist vegetation.

In other pest news - Black Fly is becoming a real problem on the allotment crops here and around the country. Keep an eye open for them on outdoors crops - they do seem to pick a particular plant or individual stem and often removal of the offending before spraying the remainder makes sense (or whatever you do).

Nice one SS the casters were not cheap l couldve made em for a fraction but they deffo work and l managed to get the 3 planters on em but twanged my back on the last one and spent 4 days off work so l guess they were mega expensive!!
And ill bear the blackfly in mind cos my tent is open 24/7 due to the heat and lve found several bees in there which is the least of any gardeners worries eh?
