I've been having all sorts of crazy memories of late about some of my old gardens.
Thought I'd share:
I used to have my clone room / seedling room built out of the shell of a top-loader washing machine.
The old washing machine broke down, and we were too broke to fix it up.
So I ripped the internal parts out of it, the chassis and motor and stuff, but kept the outside metal casing / cover and top / lid.
It was a nice size, about 60cmX60cm (2'x2') square, and about 120cm (4') high.
The top loading hole was the perfect size to drop a (fairly old) 150W HID flood lamp that I had lying around.
After starting clones or seedlings in a little plastic humid cloning box,
I'd put them into cut down plastic milk cartons, about 10cm x 10cm x 10cm (4" x 4" x 4"),
with holes cut in the bottom, some potting mix and vermiculite, and drop them inside, max of 16 in total (4 by 4).
The height of the washer meant that they couldn't get too close to the light, and without ventilation, it got fairly warm in there.
But, I used to regularly get up to 10cm (4") a day growth, record of about 12cm (5") out of some of my clones / seedlings in that washer room.
Fun times back in the day!!!!!!
(More old stories to come, later...........................)
