With them bases they are compatible with there drip system. Was thinking picking one up and trying it with one see the results. Them bases would work great for DTW in small space. Im doing this in a 32x32 tent.

I started in a 30x30 with plants on risers in plastic trays and would just shopvac out the runoff. Then I built a short table for my tent so I can drain the runoff to a pump below and pump it out automatically. I also keep my heater under the table. You don't want to top feed and have the plants sitting in the runoff. But if you grow in 3+ gallons of coco you can totally get away with feeding once a day in flower

with the way the bases are they sell a pump that fits down there. Cant I just set it to water 2 times a day for 3 mins and the run off will just go back into the res. And keep doing that till I got to refill or is that a bad idea?

I'm glad I don't have to worry about that!

That called recirculating DTW and yes it’s possible but you need to bring the EC back to the starting value what comes out isn’t what went in

I could imagine that would throw off the nuitient concentrations as the roots extract what they want, you replace with new and repeat. Eventually you would end up with an excesses of whatever that roots didn't want.

Then what do you do?
Do a Drain and a flush of the system and then return back to the starting point?

I'm glad that was had to worry about it, but it is interesting.

Edit................. And when do you know to do this? Just put it on a cyclic schedule? Surely not watching the girls for signs. That would just be too late.

I tried recirculating with coco once. Basically just keep topping off the rez with plain water and then do a weekly rez change/fresh feed. It does save a lot on nutrients, but I was constantly battling pH. Easier for me to just top off the rez with fresh feed and water the lawn with the runoff. But there's a few guys here that grow monsters recirculating

Yeah that’s why never tried it I have enough issue DTW

That sounds like a pain in the ass. I think just using the bases as bottom feeding as intended is where Im going to start. See if I can get that to work before I try anything else.

the base has a rez of 1.3 gals. I would think it would drink all that before I would need to check ph and ec. Especially in flower.
