Lighting Question about temperature and how high I can go in wattage

These strains directly from 12\12 interest me a lot. Power africa is probably Bushman's old Ciskei with some durban influence, and I remember grow reports of bushmans 'bud on a stick' sativa over at Icmag. Blue and C99 are two of my all time favourites, and DinaFem rocks.

Edit: interesting thread on the FAST versions by Seedsman:

I have only experience of auto , if it was my box I would be thinking of a Seaofgreen with a selection fast auto finishers ,,, I haven't seen anyone youse them lights but I want some ,,, 12v I wonder how long a charged car battery would run them for ,,

I guess you could get some other type running ac ,

Will get someone to doctor a 12v supply like a charger for me so I can just use a wall socket. I've got ten thumbs so I am not wiring anything myself.

Yeah I've heard nothing but good things, and they are cheap as well with 25 seed deals.

Some of the fem.auto stuff you see around today is ridiculous with 3 and 5 packs selling for $50-100$.

Is there a seedsmans rep here @Son of Hobbes ?

I looked at them fast finishers ,,,so what's the story with them do you have to run 12/12?

Would something like these be beneficial in doubles along the one 90 cm side plus the two 40 cm sides of my microcab? I can't imagine heat production being all that from these.

Will go for red spectrum and positioned at bud height.

Having experimented with such strip, my answer is "don't waste time and money". You want to go down the cheap SMD route, my own experience is that SMD 5730 Superbright does so much better, order direct from China and get 10m of the stuff AND a 360W power supply for less than one 5m roll of that stuff you linked to (which is actually around $10 per roll from China, and if you look here you will see the "Experiments in action"... )

There is more heat given off than you would expect, the glue on the tape is normally a bit of a joke, but if you could mount them to a plate so there's some airflow behind them then it'll help manage the heat in such an enclosed space somewhat.

An old PC power supply can be doctored quite easily, it does have a 12v supply built in, need at least 150w rating per 5m of strip so you have a safety margin.

Yeah they are photosensitive. It is basically strains crossed once back to their AF counterpart I think.

Got some great reviews over at Icmag and that other site I linked to. Power Africa looks incredibly tempting.
