Lighting Quantum board thread.

Your boards will be more efficient at lower amperage. I've never run my QB 304s over 85 watts each. And with a C1050 your at about 117 watts wich I'll garantee you will put out more light than you can imagine. Yes, you can run them at the max. Here is my current grow with the light @55 watts per board.
Its about PPF , not watts!

They have been in Ca for a trade show for a week, I just talked with one of the guys. They have a great thread on RIU with lots of good information. I was also told they are getting 250+ emails a day with questions and will be hiring someone to handle just their email.

On a side note does hlg ever respond to their messages? Doesn't seem like it:yoinks:

4x qb304s will be a nice setup. Find a single driver that will run all 4 instead of 2x HLG320s.

I'm running the newer QB288 V2s. 4QBs run in parallel on a single HLG600 driver is awesome. Puts out some heat though. You'll need a slate 5 or equivalent heat sink to run 4boards at 600+w.
Having to get extra aluminum for cooling pushes the price of the 304's beyond what 8 x 132's cost. I think I can run 8 boards on the hlg 600h 36b with a wired external potentiometer. Both set ups seem pretty similar but the 132's provide more even lighting with less hotspots.

I think I can wire them in series pushing them to 600w. Driver is about equal to two 320's in price.

That’s what I decided to do
4x 132 driven at 50w each (75 is max) at two per plant for 100w per plant. I drive a cob setup the same way and anything past 100w each plant and they freak. Parts for QBs are ready just need to setup the room. I thought the same thing with the spread on the 132s great coverage with 2 boards a plant. Grabbed four packs of v2 for $125 per pack. More than enough power for big autos.
Great deal

It's unfortunate they don't sell individual 132's because 9 makes a perfect number in a 4x4 or 5x5. I just decided against the 132's in favor of the Bridgelux EB2 44" 3500k strips. I'm going to throw 12 in a 4x4 with HLG 240h 48a for about 720~ watts at max but I intend to run it around 75% and still get 30ish watts per square foot. The coverage of 12 strips spaced 3" apart seemed superior to the 132's imo plus each strip can be driven to 60 watts but you have to buy heat sinks which put the cost closer to what you would pay for 8x 132's.

If I did this right

EB2 max voltage of 43.2 x max 1400 current = 60.48 watts

I signed up here just because this discussion. It really interests me since I’m in the middle of sourcing my own set of boards and I do have a question or 2.

I grow in a 4x4 and have had good and bad results with my blurple. So now to the boards!

I figured 4 different options, all with boards from Meijiu.
4 Fotop800 boards without heatsink butted up side by side and run soft with a dimmable 185H driver (some people here wrote they needed 20cm space between them to avoid hot spots)
Or 3 Fotop800 with said spaces run with a 240H driver each and with heatsinks.

Or 6 of their QB304 running at 100 watt each.
I can also go with 9 of these and run them softer, for better spread which would also help my hight restrictions.

Can someone please point me in the right direction?

I am biaised towards the 800 boards cos I use them. Go talk to Rita! Tell her you were recommended by "That" grower customer of hers who can speak her native tongue. Ask for a discount. You won't get much cos their boss is a stingy dude. But its the thought that counts. At least a cheap free gift is better than none. Also show them some AFN power...LOL!

But seriously, I like more diodes run soft but cost is a factor. You really don't need more than 2 x 800 boards with 320H 48B drivers. The Meijiu dimmers work just fine for me. This setup gives you 700W max at the wall! Divide that by 16sq/ft and you get 40++W per sq ft. Pretty much everyone maxes out at this wattage with QBs and many experience burns at this rate. So it seems more than enough.

If money is not an issue, go ahead and get 4 boards BUT dim them. You'll need to experiment a little with them to get the hang of it.
