Lighting Quantum board thread.

Thats really up to you, as each setup differs quite a bit in cost. In an ideal world, one would get all 4 boards with heatsinks and 320H drivers. That way, you can run them soft or hard! Pretty much from 0 to 1400 watts. You can also get 4 boards with 2 600H drivers to save some money but will lose some flexibility with dimming.

I'll be adding the Meijiu 950mm long Osram red bars to my setup. Gonna make them mimick the HLG35 diode placement for Emerson effect. Each of their bars cost $60++. Its plug and play. I plan to place 3x800 boards side by side with one of those red bars between each 800 board.

Like below:

Space is 5×3.5 or so. Plants would FRY if I max out all boards. I'll have to play around to get the hang of it. Its really just for your reference. I've not done a single grow or completed the above mentioned setup. It is scheduled to be completed by mid April when i start growing again but should be done within a month. Hope this helps!

I think I will go with this idea of yours. Should be able to order everything by end of the week and then hopefully finish my current grow with it.

Do be warned that its just my idea. I don't know how well it will work or I might change my mind and go another route. Most people would feel that its way overkill. I tend to agree as these QBs, even the V1s are just so bright! I might just end up going with 2 x 800 boards with just 1 red supplement bar from Meijiu. I really don't need more than 600++ watts for my space and this will give me 700++ watts when I max them out.

QBs are great lights but they are just that. A good grow requires much more than that. I actually don't notice much difference between growing with QBs or COBs. Just feel that QBs are much more worth the money. Getting more with paying less is why we go the DIY route with QBs.

Technically if you buy from Meijiu, you are buying a QB design thats not exactly from HLG. Firstly, they mostly use 48V boards instead of 54V by HLG. Meijiu feels that 54V is unnecessary and a waste, whatever that means. Not to mention HLG don't even make those 800 boards.

If you like boards without heatsinks, look for the company R2T and check out their "Rock Boards". Its very niceeeee! Look for Russell and also tell him you were recommended by me!

Otherwise, just go with Meijiu and tell Rita to give you a discount, or get her to message me!

Awesome info !
I actually did message Russell who then handed me over to someone else who then never got back to me. So on that level they’re up to par with HLG because those guys also never got back to me lol

I would love if more people would get involved here. It’s my believe that this tech is going to blow everything out of the water that we have become used to. Like hps and blurples and cobs too.
In my book, these boards are cobs which have been expanded/stretched out. This would be awesome if there would be more people involved to discuss experiences.

4 132 V2 in a custom
Chassis, just finished one of 2 lights and wanted to see it in the new space. Bought 4k because I liked the amount of red enough. I run 3k and 4K cobs side by side and have been happy but with the QBs spread out I don’t want to mix spectrums in a single fixture.
I can run these at 75 w max each board for 300 a rail but only plan to run them max in flower at 50/200 board. Those are my max wattages on cobs so I should be able to go a little lower but we shall see on the first run. I’ll be running 1 plant for each 2 boards.
Probably paid $125 for the HLG 132s. I think around $75 for driver and dimmer but not sure maybe less. Plus maybe $25 for hardware and chassis. I’d say I’m happy with $225 for 2 plants. $125 per plant for probably a good 5-6 zips per. Throw some MC in hydro and watch it grow itself.

Oh-My! Those are some kick ass lookin lights--- Do they work? I'm a rookie that has spent lots of money on some 4year old LED's, 3 times as much that you spent on that space light----Happy growing-------:jointman:

Yes These lights works! My first grow with them was photo periods, which I was somewhat new to. Well..... I vegged too long and this is the results:

The heat sinks are 200x 600mm and tight together. So the fixture is 400mm x 600mm.
Think ill rig up a couple L brackets to space them further apart.

It came fully assembled dimmer works fine.. runs from 70-484watts at the wall.
The little remote works too.

I dont have a par meter or anything to test it.. anything i need to be wary of or look out for?
Cheers for any input qb gurus
