The strips certainly look to make more sense to me than boards, although I'm no expert. Would you say it spreads the light out more? Have you done a comparison with boards?
Are they the LM561C diodes?
Really nice looking setup.

I built one similar to yours, but in veg I use 4000k, and in flower I use 3x 2700k strips and 2x 3500k strips.

Another cracking setup. You boys seem to have it dialled in.

In my opinion (and this is only my opinion because I have not done any comparisons) is that if I would have known that Horticulture Lighting Group was going to come out with the QB 96, I probably would not have built my strip light.

That being said, there are some things that I like about using the Samsung strips. You can customize the spectrum depending on what cycle your plants are in by simply having a few extra boards on hand that you can easily swap out to customize the spectrum. I originally built the light with a combination of 4000 K and 5000 K strips. But, it came time to flower, so I purchased some 2700 K strips as well as some 3500 K strips to come up with a good flower spectrum. The other thing I like about building a strip light is that you can either move the boards closer together or further away together to create the intensity and footprint that you want.

The reason I have not done any comparisons is because I know for a fact that my strip light would not hold a candle to a properly powered QB-96. The QB 96 from Horticulture Lighting Group has the far red that you want for flowering, and it is an absolute beast in veg. Several people can back me up on this.

I own two of the QB 96, but I’m only using one of them because I still need to buy another driver for the one I’m currently not using. My QB 96 is over one plant in my flower room. (On the left)

@Chronic_ passion im no expert either mate and haven`t done a comparison grow,,im happy with the spread as its amazngly bright, seriously bright.
for me burning 420w with far better spectrum than a 600w hps has got to be better. they are the samsung lm561c diodes.
treat yourself buddy ,you wont look back atb:thumbsup:

There’s another familiar face. Lol

The qb96elite v2 engines is the best bang for the buck. How can you go wrong with having 1000 dimmable watts with reds and deep reds to enhance the flowering power of what should be a specialty light anyway ?

Thanks guys. I really appreciate your input. I think you've pretty much decided it for me...
QB96 Elite V2's... shall we say x4 on a dimmable driver.. or is that too much?
HLG website suggests many but which one or two?
HLG-600H-54 for four in parallel
HLG-480H-54 for four in parallel
HLG-320H-C2800 for two in series
HLG-240H-C2100 for two in series

And of course... Where to buy in the UK?

@Chronic_ passion give diyleduk a mail, he stocks hlg gear,he may have them or will tell you if he will be stocking them

I’m running two in parallel on 320H-54a. Plenty of power for my 2x4. If you want the extra dimmable watts, then get the 480H-54a
