Lighting Quantum board thread.

It’s about time you guys bring QB96 V2 advantages to AFN. I tried to recommend this light but most still prefer old Cobs that are both more expensive and less efficient.

Feel like just going to China and design a light myself! Wonder if I can print say, “By EQ from AFN!”?

Hey guys. Need some creative help.

I need some help coming up with a slogan for QBs....more specifically, the new HLG-550V2 that is ETL certified for commercial use. I’m working on a print design for a flyer that HLG will take with them to an indoor growing and lighting trade show at the end of this month. The design is pretty much done, but I don’t have a call to action or a clever eye grabber on it. That’s what it is missing.

Examples:
- “Out with the old, in with the new.”

- “HIDs need not apply.”

These are a few I like but can’t decide which one. Which one would grab your attention the most?

“A Quantum Leap for Indoor Growing”

“A Quantum Leap for Indoor Growers”

“A Quantum Leap for Indoor Gardeners”

That's my favorite!

I'm trying to put all the pieces together for some project ideas. My wife wants my 4x4 setup and I'm going to give her the HPS as well for a flowering tent but I also want to set up a tiered veg rack with the sides and back covered in mylar. For my new tent, 8x4, I'm trying to find the most cost effective quantum set up to still bring me at least 30 watts per square-foot.

I have an idea for my tent
16xqb120
4xhlg 240h 24b drivers

This setup plus other parts it's going to run me practically $1000 but it will be around 1000 watts which meets my 30w per sqft

Or I was thinking 44" light strips but I'm having trouble understanding the specs to know which strips will be cost effective and meet my minimum wattage. Then I started wondering if I need or should mix 2700, 3000, 3500, and other spectrums into the build

After some discussion and research

24x bridgelux 3500k 80cri 44" strips
2x hlg 320h 42a

So roughly $6-650 to cover the 8x4

Then for my wife's project, I want to set up a rack with either 12" or 44" light strips - 3 to 4 under each shelf and one driver to run them. It will be basically just be 4-5k spectrum only but I don't know enough about light strips tho to make a purchase.

For my wife's I've decided on

12x 4000k Bridgelux 44" strips
1x hlg 320h 42a

Roughly $300 to cover 3 48" shelves

4 QB 304 run @ 125 watts each will give you 31 watts sq/ft in a 4x4 space. And a ton of light! use a pair of HLG320H-C2800 and dim them a bit, cost you a lot less than $1000, I'd estimate $650-$700.

I'm running my QB 304 at a measly 55 watts per board on an HLG320H-C2800b in about 2 weeks. that will give me 85 watts per board. You'll be surprized what low power lights can do!

That saves me some money.

Your build
4x qb304 @ $260 w/ shipping
2x HLG320H-C2800b @ $175 w/ shipping
Total=$435

Tbone Shuffle over at grass city suggested
8x qb132 3500k @ $270 w/ shipping
2x HLG-320H-C2100B @ $185 w/ shipping
Total=$455

My proposed rack build for vegetables
8x QB 120 4000k @ $240
2x HLG-240H-C2100A @ $135

So my question then is, in a 4x4(not concerned with heat), which set up would provide the most watts? I can't afford an 8x4 right now but I would like to have more than I need now so that in the future I spend less money.

Would 8 panels be better than than the 4x 304? How do I determine the watts for these builds?

4x qb304s will be a nice setup. Find a single driver that will run all 4 instead of 2x HLG320s.

I'm running the newer QB288 V2s. 4QBs run in parallel on a single HLG600 driver is awesome. Puts out some heat though. You'll need a slate 5 or equivalent heat sink to run 4boards at 600+w.

Hi all..question for all the qb gurus. If I wanted to operate 304 boards individually could I use the hlg-120h-c1400? They recommend the c1050 but it seems a shame to leave so many watts on the table.
Thanks
Kris
