New Grower Mephisto GWK, 4AM, Bubbly Livers, AvT in Coco

Between the moisture probe and the dry pot lifting, I’ll get the hang of it. I do know that I will not let them dry up again. If that happens, come over and kick me in the junk. In the mean time, I’ll just keep watching them and reading the grow journals here. Looking forward to growing these out and starting another round of Mephisto goodness. So much to learn about these plants...

Yea! I'd say you got the itch now. Your bean selection is pretty much epic strains. 4 great plants at harvest bro!

Hi AFN!!

DAY 22 - Temps 23C and 60% RH steady

The girls are looking good I think. I am much more attuned to watering them for their needs in coco. I do have a question for all those looking in, ‘ when do you start watering for runoff?’ I have read that the roots need to be well established but I’ve also read growers water for runoff from day 1. Since I’ve already tried killing my plants from underwatering, I don’t want to over water either. My concern is nute buildup with not watering to runoff yet. Nutes are still at 1/4 strength and I’m not seeing any signs of deficiency yet. Maybe I’ll mix up a stronger batch for the next feed and see how it goes.

I have begun LST on AvT and she seems to be responding well. The other 3 will just get leaf tucking so I can see how the plants naturally grow and because two are stunted already and I don’t need to stress them again.

4AM - Recovering well now so I’m hoping to get something off her.

Grape Walker Kush - seems to be happy though I broke a fan leaf off while tucking.

Bubbly Livers - I forgot to take a pic but she is the smallest and looks like a small weed plant. I don’t know if it’s from stunting but she is really compact; tight nodes but all of her leaves look green and healthy now.

PS: Yes, I’m still in my pj’s and yes, I wear Birkenstock’s in the house (they’re comfy).

That's great growth for day 22 and your first run. I'd be one happy guy if I was you. You're getting lots of lateral growth but height not as much from what I can see in the pictures. Not sure why. Could be lights. Could just be genetics. Could be a bit of stunting earlier. I'd do some reading up on how to encourage more stretch. I think there are ways to promote stretching with the lights but I think its an art and you just dont raise your lights 6 inches and that's it. Hopefully other experiences peeps will offer some advice. Since they are pretty compact you might want to do more LST, not just leaf tucking. Might even want to consider topping.

Nice job though. Well on your way to a good crop for your first try.

Early days yet to say safe, anything can happen not cursing, plant should be established/etstablishing now looking at it, run off in coco if your letting the pot dry out but if your not and seeing salt build up do a flush or part flush if you see salt build up or nute burn making it harder to maintain the right PH in the coco, it's really hard to over water in coco I would treat coco like hydro I think most will tell you that apart from obviously if the plants still very young I had a few look similar structure but now about 3 inch from roof of the tent give time have patience give a week or two see how she looks then, looks fairly healthy imo either way you will take leaves off her if you don't use some method of training The height of the plant may become an issue I haven't and they have gone wild I'm battling with keeping them away from the lights as for gaining height put the light higher make them stretch to it that's where I went wrong being paranoid of them being to close to it now I want the opposite only my experience tho either way I hope they turn out how you want them and good luck :smokeout:

What? Dude...you need to add some punctuation and sentence structure. Not trying to be a dick, but c'mon, there is not a single period in that whole paragraph. It makes for a VERY difficult read and this is a forum for reading.

Nice looking plants by the way. You're gonna want to start LST on that GWK as soon as possible. They aren't terribly tall plants, and can get super wide if you force em. One of the best strains in the Meph arsenal in my opinion. It's not the best tasting weed...it's not bad and my goodness is it unique on the tongue...but it is the strongest auto strain I've seen. It's difficult to trim as well because it's so damn sticky. You could literally stick it to the wall. They better get this into the regular rotation. Everyone who grows it is gonna LOVE it. Me and my buddie were the ones who spearheaded the campaign to bring Gee Dubbya Kay back from extinction and got a whole thread dedicated to that from way back. Stoners begging for a weed. Classic.

Thanks for the info. Lights were at 26” so I’ve raised them back to 30” for now and I’ll get on the LST shortly.

Thanks Doc! I’ll LST the GWK today. 4AM has grown really fast in the last couple of days also. Any thoughts on increasing nutes? I mentioned earlier that I don’t see signs of deficiency but I get the feeling the plants are going to put on some growth fairly quickly.

DAY 29 -

I’m working with what I’ve got and using best practices to the best of my knowledge even though my plants are stunted. Looking forward to grow [HASHTAG]#2[/HASHTAG] to use what I’ve learned so far. Still trying to spread them out with LST.

GWK - I broke her main cola off while tying her down, taped it up and it looks healthy enough but I’m afraid to tie it down again so I’m just working on the secondaries.

Finding it difficult to LST the smaller plants due to their compact structure. I might clip a few leaves to help open them up. I’m not sure what to expect from all of these as far as product goes. I know that bending them over does nothing for height but they’re all quite short now. I’m considering running the same variety on my second grow to see how much I can improve on my first grow.

Thanks for looking in, any advice would be appreciated. Do I continue to LST these plants or just let them grow on their own at this point?

I previously raised the lights for 4 days and got nowhere. I realized that the foliage is so tight that light was not getting to the lower branches so I thought I’d try to open up the plant. The runts respond quickly to it But I think I’m running out of time to stretch them.
