New Grower Mephisto GWK, 4AM, Bubbly Livers, AvT in Coco

Thanks brother, grow [HASHTAG]#2[/HASHTAG] will be better. I’ve learned a ton so far thanks to you and many others here. I had intentions of following a schedule but I’ve kind of just been winging it and watching how the plants respond. Might be a little steep on Nitrogen. I didn’t know the Calmag I bought also has nitrogen so the plants are getting a lot of it right now.
I would like to say something to help you,but last time didn't work out, I'm sure others will be along soon to give you the answers you looking for.

What I can say is keep it simple until you get a couple under your belt, when your a new grower sometimes following schedules can be tricky.you doing right by reading the plant, if you get tip burn back off, if your seeing deficiencys creep up until healthy. Best way if your unfamiliar with feeding.

They do look ok I know what you mean about how they look but you never done LST before, you will get better like anything practice makes perfect.

See how they go and if they stretch I had a gorrila that was so close to the pot for weeks and bushy as f I really struggled feeding her but I got there in the end once she started stretching now she a big plant.

I'm sure you will get there, there's tones of help here on AFN keep going and best of luck :pass:

Your doing great and if the Bubbly Livers is anything like the Sour Livers she will spread out a bit more during flower my Sour Livers opened up more after the start of flower the tops spread out they were crazy bushy before and I didn't even lst just leaf tuck. You picked some cool strains I was reading about Bubbly Livers and the other colabs.

Thanks for the advice. In theory I understand what needs to be done with the plants but practically it’s hard to know how to put theory into practice sometimes. On my next grow I’ll start the LST earlier as I shouldn’t have to wait for them to recover from stunting. I think starting earlier will make LST simpler and easier as the plant will be simpler and more bendy. Watering will be my biggest improvement as well as reading the plants and their needs.

Hi Beerhunter, looks like you have a fine grow in the works and top notch help. I’m a noob too, almost ready for my first harvest. Very exciting. One of the best things I’ve learned about growing is that if you spend time with your plants, they begin to speak to you. Especially as far as training and LST goes. These plants are capable of so much more than I imagined! There are so many things I will do differently on my next grow. What a fun and rewarding hobby — no regrets.

Not sure what happened with the main stem on GWK but I’ve heard of accidents that benefitted the plant more than once.

Thanks @davisgirl. On GWK I tied the main cola down too tightly and it snapped when I was tying.becuase it didn’t set quite right I felt it was too weak to tie down anymore so I’ve left it to it’s own devices. It’s still alive and growing. I may have to support it if it gets heavy, a problem I don’t mind having. A rewarding hobby I hope it will be. Oddly enough I do enjoy spending time with my plants, my wife thinks it’s cute :face:

Exactly my point bro, it's like what @davisgirl said you become more able to read the plant and tend to it's needs as necessary, (making you a better grower in return)

I'm the opposite,I want to stay away from LST for now, and learn alternative methods, everybody wants something different each will find there own.

I'm a big believer of coco and like hand watering, i find it hard to go wrong in coco, but at the same time find it time consuming, at later stages in the plants life, so I'm going to give auto pots a go.

I too am making big changes next run, from what I have learned so far, but I'm not worrying about it for now, I'm concentrating on finishing the current one, I did hit a point where I stopped caring for them as much because I got flustrated, and all I could think about was my next run how would i do it better what would I do differently.

But seeing them still going on strong made me want to do the best I can for them and finish off the best I could, and look back how much i have improved at the end of the next run ,there not to bad I don't think, but definitely could be better.

your strain lineup really gets me
marvellous selection in my opinion..jealous of the Bubbly Livers, sounds like an epic cross.

as you know I’m gonna jump on the coco bandwagon shortly so I’m here to steal all this good information and cram it in my brain...only to smoke some Mephisto goodies and watch it all fall out again

I’ve seen surprising stretch after preflowers have appeared on most of my ladies so far. hopefully that’ll help you open them up a bit more but really, they look lovely.

also I wish my missus thought the time I spend in the cupboard was cute :crying:
spend too much time in there apparently...
I said this new coco gig will have me in there watering every day - the trick, I said, is don’t encourage me to roll up the minute I walk in from work ‘cause it takes me easily 3 times longer to water them high. especially when there’s something in there I’m full flower; I’ll spend hours staring at sparkly bits :cool1:

Thanks @Froot n Fuel, I’m not full of knowledge using coco (or growing for that matter) but you can learn from my mistakes. I have now left the plants to grow on their own going into preflower for a couple of reasons (not planned). The bushy plants (4AM & Bubbly Livers) are starting to stretch and preflower now, a bit behind the other two. I’ll post some pics in a bit.

DAY 40

AvT - preflowering now and beginning to stretch a bit.

GWK - now 23” tall and wide. Preflower and frost is starting. Smells so good with a faint grape scent.

Bubbly Livers - still bushy and compact but starting to stretch I think.

4AM - looks healthy and green but is sucking hind tit. My fault, not a genetic issue.

I still have the two smaller plants on veg nutes and I’m transitioning the larger plants to bloom nutes. I increase the nute concentration by 100ppm when I mix up a new batch and then I’ll back it off when I see nute burn but so far so good. I’ve had some temp and humidity problems but nothing too severe and hopefully I’ll get it sorted out by changing the extractor fan controller and using a better control for the oil heater. I’ll also be adding an HPS to the tent (thanks @lunarman ) to finish up the grow and see how well that works to supplement lighting and heat during the winter.
