Sorry, but I don't have any scrog/lst advice, p.l.u.r. Bumping this up so hopefully someone can help. Nice pics you posted the other day! :smoke:

Who knows when will be the best time to start scroging/lst a maxi gom??? Looks like its gonna be a tall plant.

Anybody?

Guys..

My thread has gone quiet..

I dont know how helpful this will be seeing its an auto, though a scrog for any photo, the screen is usually set 12 inches off the pot or there abouts. I would usually tip the plant, and if I was to do so I would set the pot centre to the screen, though seeing as we are dealing with an AF, I suggest bending the whole plant. With this method you dont want to set the pot dead centre of the screen. The best way I can explain the placement of the pot is to imagine drawing a diagonal line across the screen, that is the path you want to send the main stem of the plant, so you will want to place your pot off centre towards a corner of the screen. Dont jam it totally in the corner of the screen though, as you will want some room to train the lower branches. A screen all but negates popcorn.

From what I understand you will have some plants scrogged and others not. You may want to fix your lights at maximum height, setting the screen 4 odd inches lower than your preferred distance, because if you can do it well they shouldnt reach much higher through it. That will mean that you may have to pack up the pot heights of not only the scrogged plant but everything in the kit, so you can remove packers as the others grow....

Other than that, there may be a few other issuses for an AF that you wouldnt have with a photo. Most photos you would all but strip bare anything below the screen to open up airflow, I dont know how an auto would take to that though. Your best bet would be to get a small oscillating fan running full time and cross your fingers.

Hope that helps you get your head around it a little..... It takes a little work, and you have to be on it daily up until the 2nd week of flowering or so, but satisfaction of getting it right and a full canopy is well worth the effort.

Cheers Andy it seemed to have worked:booya:

Im also clueless about lst, but think its got to be done, its getting to big.. Thanks dude, im gonna be aiming for the afn pic of the month in Jan:)

Thanks again mate.. Keep watchin over me please lol..

Peace..

Hi p.l.u.r. I wouldnt worry about your maxi with the leaf tips or over feeding, IMO she looks to be a very healthy girl , almost identical to mine just alittle more compact as i ran mine under HPS from day 2-3.
I've just ordered myself 4 x oxy pots for myself , its defo the way forward. reakon i could clear the same yield of 4 maxi's in hydro grown right as i would from the nine i have atm.

quick question , whats the best to water the roots for the first few days its in the oxy pot , when the rooting system isnt into the reservoir? is it best to have the reservoir top right up then drain alittle? or hand water 3x4 times a day?

Sorry for the stupid questions. just only every grown in soil/coco medium.

All the best for your grow mate , ill be watching and wishing you all the best. :smokebuds:

Thanks man this is exactly wat I needed.. Im only growing 1 plant in a triangular corner cupboard, the pot will be fix into its position once I start lsting, I can only have pot in center of screen. Its currently 10-12 inches high and im expecting it to get atleast 20 inches. if this plant had normal auto traits I would have grown normally, but the maxi gom has scrog potential, it gets big..
What should or shouldnt I tie it up with? Should I make little hooks for attaching to the plant?

Cheers for your help mate, its really apreciated..

Peace..

Are you going to lst or scrog.....

for a scrog you make a frame of plastic conduit or something similar and make a netting of say 2inch squares with string (the plastic coated clothes line works well). You then manouver the tips into holes in the netting, so in essence the plant bends, the growing tips then straighten up towards the light source, grow vertically again, and when tall enough are eased out of their current hole in the netting into the next one along. As newer bud site develop they will also need to be moved around the screen as they will all want to stretch towards the light. The goal of a scrog is to have as even a canopy as possible, that way every bud site acts like a mini cola.

Lst such as tieing it, to me is used in a different way to a scrog, and while it may help you cut a little head height down is better for opening up dense bushy phenos for both airflow and better light penetration. If you chose to tie her up, just dont use something too thin that can cut into her, and dont tie tight to the branches, short loose loops of shoelace work well in a pinch. As you suggested you could use hooks, I actually use the single insulated cable from a 3 core electrical cable (the colours inside the white 20a twin and earth cable) each end with fishing line inbetween...

Hope that helps

Cheers adski, so a little burn aint bad?
The oxypot is brilliant, I done alot of research on water and come to my decision just to use tap water. My tap water ec levels are quite high but didnt seem a problem, I have seen both methods done to start them, I dipped mine 3 times a day till the roots came through(1day). Then I would have water level so the bursting bubbles are covering half the netpot with solution. I would also suggest using formulex to start your plants off.

Your gonna love going hydro, best of luck with your oxys..

Keep watchin i'll try and keep it looking sweet..

Peace..

cheers cereal killer,

now i finally understand the difference, i think im going to lst the plant. i really only want to move the main cola so it stays level with the rest of the canopy. the fishing line and wire is a great idea im now goin to have a little play, thanks for your help. ill let you know how i get on.

From what i could see from the pics there was no nute burn. And qoute if im wrong but you have a slight leave curl due to a imbalance in PH? , a couple of mine had the same issue but grow out of it very fast , as im using Tap water myself , i just let in sit in my tent for 48 hours between feeds.

I'll be using Rhizotonic , formulex , canna aqua nutes , and some sort of flower booster i havent decided yet.

all the best with this grow mate

Anytime mate..... I cannot grow at the moment, and the next best thing is to watch someone else do it and do it well... best of luck with it...

Mind you if you tie her out too far she will probably need some support when in full bloom otherwise she may snap a stem or pull herself from her netpot, if she gets as big as you say she is supposed to there will be some weight in her.
