Partied with crabbers in the 70's in Seattle. Those dudes really put on a party.. trays of king crab, booze, nose candy, weed, sometimes a live band. The hazards weren't always on the water with them
Minus the crab and you got yourself the average logging camp in Canada.:crying:

Hmmm...apparently Boveda 62% packs are just potassium citrate and xanthan gum, and look to be based on an old Philip Morris patent:

I sense a science experiment on the horizon...

Nice find! I still use Boveda packs because I trust them, and I'm lazy. When I used to keep a humidor I found Boveda packs were the best way to maintain humidity if you didn't have the $$ for a really really nice humidor and automation. I semi understood what the chemistry was they used but not how they managed to regulate humidity with the membranes. I'm sure some micropuncture method and a machine mortals cannot replicate on the cheap.

Well! I am going to bed! I had a nip, a wine, a walk with a bit of tobacco, then wine, then dinner, with wine, ah fool, then we felt like we were 20, so..... Raki! And now, I should retire from the online chattings.

From patent:
Instead of microporous films, any film or membrane with a sufficiently high water vapor permeability can be used. A particularly preferred film of this type is a film of cellulose triacetate.
