Since @Son of Hobbes lacks a knife appropriate for corn ribs, we’re having esquites.

You can get a knife pretty sharp with the bottom of a coffee mug or plate. Really anything ceramic that doesn't have glaze on the very bottom. If he has "a" knife you can make it happen

Get a Mercer 8” chefs knife off Amazon for twentyish bucks….

It’s a great utility knife that you’ll find on the line in pro kitchens all over
