hey there friends it is Shango from
shaping fire and I'm here again with Dan
Jimmy from gnome automatics and uh we're
going to talk about one particular uh
cultivar that he brought to Market
actually it's the very first uh plant
that he brought to Market and the reason
why we're going to talk about Alf today
specifically Alf number five um is
because you know over the years as Dan's
plants have become more and more popular
with autoflow Autoflower Growers
everywhere um more and more people are
interested in his original stuff where
where did his original um genetics come
from because if they like his stuff now
they're interested in going back a few
generations and and getting some of his
earlier stuff so they too can um can
work with those and and you know his
particular Al number five seeds um
haven't been available for some time and
you know um on the on the forums and and
Dan will tell me people ask him for him
at shows and everything so people still
really want that Al number five and so I
figured you know since I'm here anyway
might as well take a chance and um and
ask him to share with us um uh the
lineage of the AL number five um his
very first drop so Dan tell us about Al
number five oh Al number five and you
know I think we'll get this out of the
way everybody's asked this one question
and I remember coming over uh to one of
the vime events and you know it was one
of the times that I was actually
donating Alf number five so we could get
it out there get it to patients and you
asked what Alf stood for and if it was
related to the alien which it is not and
it actually has a backbone into why it's
called Alf and the genetic line it
stands for Afghan little [ __ ] Afghan
little [ __ ] Afghan little [ __ ] that's
way different than the the alien Al on
the TV show yeah yeah and the reason it
got that name is because the Afghan part
of it are different different lineages
of Afghan influence cannabis that have
been put into it so Alpha number one
alpha number two and Alpha number three
and Al number four came from Spain and
it's where I sourced the original Al
genetics from a breeder named mossi and
she did the work up to Al number four
which are four different Afghan
influenced cultivars that were
introduced into an auto so she had
breeding stock that she had her Auto
flowers she would take one Afghani
infuence one of the was mzar I may not
be pronouncing that right introduced
that into her Autoflower genetics that
made Al number two and then Al number
three I think was skunk number one I
believe on the lineage that's a little
that one was just a little hazy for me
because it wasn't talked much about but
the Banger that came out of that was Alf
number four which was deep chunk
introduced into the previous Alf lineage
and that's where the color started
happening and that's when the plants
started getting larger and that's when I
acquired them because I fell in love
with her patio she had these patio shots
in Spain and this is before AFM this is
you know like I met her icy mag days um
roll it up.org days you know like we
were bouncing around forms because we
would either get hated on people made
poke fun of us cuz we're messing with
utof flowers back years ago and people
were like autoflowers were disdained for
years and still are in a lot of circles
in a lot of circles they are but the
reputation is starting the people are
starting to come around to the
reputation because of the work that
we're putting into them you know so I
got I acquire alha number four from
Spain from mossi she um gave me she said
play with it do whatever you want to do
with it read with it that's why I'm
sending it to you I want it to carry on
I want this to be around and there was a
lot of there was a lot of potential the
actual FAL generation of my Alf number
four I'm not entirely sure of most
likely it was F9 or higher because her
patio shots like I was talking about a
minute ago were just these multipots of
Oto flowers and by multipot what I mean
is like several utos in one pot of these
black and purple Hues and it was
gorgeous to see and I wanted that and I
knew the genetic potential was there to
help me further on down the road so I
get Al number four it's time to make Al
number five to stick true to her
Heritage I added Baba Kush which is
another Inda SL you know style
broadleaf um cultivar to it
and that's when all the magic started
happening from the liftoff from my
genetics that's where there's pure Alpha
number five Anvil came from that line
and Cole miner's daughter came from that
line as well and you were talking a
moment ago like people want to get the
backstock they want Alf number five to
breed with because I've never feminized
it I'll never feminize it to keep it
true to its breeding Heritage and then
Anvil I get asked for constantly you
know which is a pedigree outside it was
a nice phenotype I mean Anvil is
everybody wants it cuz they want that
purple color everything that you cross
to Anvil comes out purple it does and it
also adds one other thing that people
really really like and that's size and
vigor hell yeah the structure is great
yeah Anvil gets big fast I mean some of
them do run 90 days or longer indoor but
you got to remember you're getting extra
veg time with them the plants are
getting bigger you're getting a bigger
Harvest and then of course those bones
are good to breed into anything else too
I don't offer her in regular seed
anymore I get asked for that in regular
seed it is going to come back so is Alf
but anva will come back feminized as it
has been locked into and then Al will
come back as regular soon I'm not going
to give dates I got one project I got to
finish yeah we know how uh seed products
are projects are it's like I'm going to
get back to that one of these days one
of days so then like like a decade later
you're like oh I should try to pop those
seeds you know yeah exactly what and for
preservation purposes too like I don't
want to sit on I mean I do a pretty good
job of preserving my seeds um I've
gotten seeds that are 10 years old to
Germany most recently was another batch
of alp number four which Mossy called
the dragon um I had a friend of mine
open them up he had the room to do it we
did video chat to help with selections
like two three times a week when flowers
started kicking in and I've done a
reproduction of those to keep them alive
so I'm going to search back through the
original dragons and I'm going to work
on Al number five it will be this winter
I've got the room and space to do it now
where I can isolate cultivar you've told
me a few different times just kind of
mentioning at uh the the impact that Alf
had on your breeding program can you
just describe like you know in principle
the impact that it had on your program
yeah so like in principle it improved
the program exponentially for me it gave
me good breeding stock it's like going
out and getting a good quarter horse you
know to breed with to work on a farm you
need I wanted a good Workhorse somebody
who is robust somebody who was going to
give me potential and have a diverse
past that I could potentially open
anything up and and when I started
introducing like the other like the
Bubba cush to it you know to make Alf
number five that's when it was kind of
like the gene pool busted open and it
gave me m m resistance size it gave me
new colors it gave me
um honestly gave me confidence to move
my seed lines forward is what it really
did you know I remember you asked me
earlier you know when did you drop and
how long ago was it I want to say around
4 4 and 1/2 years ago and I can
correlate that because of a conversation
I had with a dear friend of mine uh
Jordan shout out to Jordan he came to
visit me here and we went to a canacon
together because we're finally in legal
states and we realized quickly that
canacon was okay but it was a way to get
a bunch of free [ __ ] which was cool that
was pretty much the way it was out here
at at that time and he had a
conversation with me in the hotel that
night and he said remember getting ready
to get into the seat game make sure your
breeding stock is on lock there's a lot
of people out there trying to enter into
this they're throwing out Hermes they're
throwing out garbage crop
don't be that guy and that's that's
stuck with me forever and we're still
great friends you know but it's good to
have a friend to tell you that because
he values your reputation because he's
known you for so long mhm so um so uh
you saw the AL uh being grown by mossi
and you fell in love with it because of
what it was doing on her porch and so
then you brought it to the states and
you started working with it and added
Bubba Kush and then eventually um
brought other things to it to to really
kind of make the the original backbone
of your of your of your collection y um
uh what are you doing with lines from
Alf now you know Alf itself might be a
couple Generations back but uh what are
you working on now that is of that same
lineage
so Alf produced Co Miner's Daughter
which was a phenotypical isolation I
found matching parents and I worked it
uh it's at F5 now um
and it has been used to hybridize
several things as of recent because it
also holds the color it's very good at
hashing it's very good at mold of milary
resistance and bugs don't seem to bother
it too much which is kind of nice like
we've talked earlier I unfortunately
have to battle mites every year yeah
thrips not so bad um but my biggest foe
out here are the mites and it seems to
kind of like they stay away from it you
know and so Co miner's daughter lives in
304 um which is the pinkleberry cross
which you know pinkleberry Co Miner's
Daughter Co miner's daughter came from
Al so those picked up and then the oage
we talked about earlier which is behind
us here is my Bobby's Widow with coler's
daughter in it Bobby's
Widow is kind of like Co miner's
daughter in a sense
Bobby was born by using Alpha number
four and um
DM's White Widow is what made that
initial Bobby's Widow cross the reason
the Bobby was it's Bobby's Dragon was
because of it was a phenotypical
isolation she had done and as you can
kind of see here as we're
talking you can hear the mentorship
coming out she did multipots I love to
breed multipots you get a good idea of
what you're dealing with with a lion in
The Offspring um she did phenotypical
isolations is what's what I have done
when I took Al number five and I did
pure Al home miner's daughter and um
Anvil so her influences are kind of
still there as I progress forward with
Al number five and its variance MH um I
haven't had the the pleasure of coming
across MSI is she still in the game
she's still very active on an.net she is
still around um I talk to her every now
and again she's probably a little
frustrated at me right now I've got to
get some packs out to some Prize winners
um and I've been kind of swamped so I
haven't got those out I mean so I'm sure
she's a little little upset with me on
that one but they are coming I promised
everything's packed they just got to get
them to the post office yeah yeah I I
think that um I think that's something
that just about every breeder everywhere
has to say yes yes the packs are coming
out it's going to be all right yeah
they're coming and it's just like you
know a lot of people may or may not know
I have a 9o5 I'm a father we do coach
Sports I've got dogs I've got you know
the gome automatic side and you know I
have a house to take care of and a
family and everything so things can get
crazy from time to time so it's nice to
have a day where we can just sit and
chill and talk about this cuz it doesn't
happen often yeah no it doesn't happen
it doesn't happen enough luckily we just
live a fairy away from each other so
that helps you know you're you're my
closest uh cultivation buddy so um all
right so I guess in wrapping up I just
want to thank you for all the donations
you've made of the ALF number five to
viia the the Vashon Island uh patient
outward um Outreach group that that I
started out on Bashon where I live um
you know in the in the early days you
would just bring packs and and it's
interesting because um every now and
then I'll come across one of those packs
and they may or may not have seeds but
you know how sometimes in somebody's
like like Garden or Greenhouse like an
old pack from a prior year would be
sitting there and I'll pick one I'm like
holy [ __ ] you've got Alf and they're
like oh I love that plant you know I
need more vimium eating so I can get
more of those seeds but like two things
that are funny about that one is that um
people don't realize that like the AL
isn't for sale you know anymore right
and then and then the second thing is is
that um people don't know how close they
were to actually getting more Al because
you know um right before we had to take
the the the break during the whole coid
thing from having meetings because you
cannot bring like patients together in
that kind of environment um you actually
gifted viia aund pack of Al number fives
and um we're figuring out what we want
to do with that next um but um but you
know you always been so generous with
patients everywhere but especially on
you know the neighbor patients um on
Vashon where I live so thanks very much
for for sharing that you and I both
really share the vibe of making sure
that seeds get good seeds get in the
hands of patients and and not that that
they don't have to just grow like the
extras you know and the freebies so
thanks for that absolutely dude you know
and it's like you said it's always been
an important part of Who I Am with this
thing like the whole reason I started
growing cannabis was because of somebody
who was dying with cancer you know what
I mean it's the whole reason I got into
it and then I get introduced find that
you have these meetings on the island
and it was a very intimate setting and
you were bringing in resources and
people
and not only were they had safe access
they had access to Quality stuff they
also had access access to Quality
information to go along with it you know
and that that meant a lot to me so
making sure that um these parent these P
parents these patients have access just
is it fit right in with the whole
purpose and why I do this sure I enjoy
having the business and stuff like
that's great it's awesome it's been it's
been really damn fun but like the most
important part to me is the patience you
know just getting it to them making sure
they have it and you know kind of paint
it Forward right on awesome man so um so
I guess I'll end with some plugs for
your stuff so so uh if you want to find
out more about uh Dan's work and gnome
automatics um you can go to the website
at gnome automatics.com and then you can
go to the Instagram which is gnore
automatics right that's correct right on
and then um you know he's got packs out
like just about everywhere so go to your
you know go to your favorite distributor
and score them there and um Dan's work
is actually really appreciated um by big
farms too who need all the plants to be
consistent um because he works his lines
to you know the number five the number
six you know the you know you'll get
down to you know eight or nine
Generations on some of them um they're
consistent and so if you're a farm and
you're looking for you know a th000 or
4,000 of the same thing um by all means
uh reach out to Dan too so anyway thanks
for your interest in uh Al number five
uh you know I I hope that you found this
valuable and thanks an I appreciate it
thank you man thanks for letting me
share a little bit about my past right
on
