New Grower First grow, Royal Dwarf, UK outdoor

Wow very cool. Id definitely be out in the garden if I had the space. Some nice snakes you got there haha! Pretty jealous. And sunflowers bigger than children is no joke heh. My landlord grows some monsters. Glad to see your enjoying your garden. Keep up the good work!

@Swan lovely garden m8
looking good

love the slow-worms :pighug:

The snakes are slow-worms, and not actual snakes ... they are leg-less lizards ... but cool never the less :eyebrows:
Well spotted @Slowmo

They are beautiful little things I think.

They've had babies. One day in early May a handful of little heads and tails appeared out the grass clippings pile! Mum and Dad are about 2ft long from what I can tell.
Hope they are hungry for slugs [emoji4]

Cheers

They should be a great asset in your pest control... did u know that they also can grown very old indeed . a male was kept in copenhagen zoo from from 1892 until 1946, the age when first obtained is unknown so atleast 54 years

today their biggest enemies are domestic cats ... :pighug:

Day 20:

Approx 25% of the grow time under our belts?

Well Dwarfy survived her first night out and second night out. Seems to have grown into a lazy curve shape today, must have turned the pot round at some point so she's had to do a wiggle to face the southern sun.

(Cool fact that I read that the bending of the stems in plants when they grow towards the light is cos they release more of a hormone on the shady side of the plant causing more growth cells on that side and making it bend. Clever little things huh)

Bottom of the stem is still quite thin but after the first node it's thickened right up. If the bottom stays thin I might offer it some support by way of stake or ties to the pot. It's pretty breezy out and she gets thrown around in it.

Just need to find a nice spot for her to hang out at the weekend away from the eyes of the visiting in-laws [emoji3]

I'll give her a big soak and some BioBizz grow now as we have company until Monday so I won't be able to fuss Dwarfy until then.

No pics, sorry

Cheers

Damn. Wish you had a pic. Another thing you can do to support her if you think her stem is thin is add a little more soil. From your old pics looks like you still have a little room in the pot. Just an idea.

Yeah I was thinking that might do the trick, good to hear someone else suggest it though. The soil is so fluffy and loose I could see the stem moving around in the wind and making itself a bigger hole to swing around in.

She's now tucked up among some wild nettles out back till the in-laws go home on Monday. I can do some maintenance then.
