New Grower First Grow Northern Lights in Homemade Grow Box

I gave three plants in the MG nature’s organic potting mix. Contains bone and blood meal etc. mixed with 25% perlite. They are doing very well. It was an experiment for me and it hasn’t failed yet.

I have been very curious as to how that organic miracle grow would do. Just bought a big bag of FF Happy Frog. Gonna give that a go on my next couple of grows. Maybe the MG organic in a side-by-side comparison?

I picked up two bags last night. I think they were $8 for the big bag. Can’t beat that, main concern was burning and I can tell you that didn’t happen. Plants I have are starting to flower and other than one light feed of MC I’ve added nothing. I don’t think it will have enough to flower but that can always be supplemented. Burning is always the concern with soils and since this has only meals and some other organic I knew I would be ok. Time release is the death of miracle soils for most plants imho.

I’m not a soul grower but just a thrifty SOB so figured what could it hurt. I think I’ll add maxi bloom or kool bloom depending on how dark they get in flower if they need it. Would be cool if $8 soil was water only but not done with the experiment yet. The MC I did add yellowed the tips in one and darkened the other. Both are healthy but I probably could have gone without for a few more weeks.

I am also working on making a Living organic soil and figured when this grow is done this soil would be great to add to the till as filler. Pretty sure my current compost bucket is super hot and would cook most plants. But we shall see.

Love to see a side by side.

Day 53: the stronger of the 2 plants is putting on some good weight. Just a wild, novice guess, but I assume this one will have about 2.5 weeks left (for a total of 10 weeks).

On one of my plants, I’ve got a lot of browning in the leaves. At this point in time, is it going to effect the way it smokes after drying/curing?

I don’t see too many plants with brown spots on their leaves at this stage in a grow. Let me know your thoughts...

Did you find out what the spots were caused by?
