New Grower First grow, humbolt caramel cream (8-3-22)

End of week 9
  • 20221004_195124.jpg

Once again all my new growth has taco'd from the overwatering on saturday. Soil was bone dry so I gave about .5 gal just a bit ago. At this rate i might just have to flower her not in the greatest of shape

    Week 10 start of flowering
  • Ive decided to go ahead and this is day 1 of the light cycle being on 12/12. Plants looking a little better but Im trying to mess with it as little as possible besides watering.

Starting the ff flowering sched. in a couple days. Watered with .75gal of 6.3 ph water, no food as I just wanted her to perk up a bit as it switches over.

This brings me to questions about the light cycle and stress. Before when I was doing this I was home much more often. Now I work 7am to 7pm pretty much 5 to 6 days a week my 18/6 cycle was running 3:30am to 9:30pm which gave me plenty of time to check stuff and do my routine. So question is, can I switch my 12/12 cycle to something like 9am to 9pm so I still have that window of opportunity to check on stuff, without stressing her out? I was just thinking along the lines of natural light gets cut out kinda evenly throught the year, losing hours of light in the morning and at night. So does cutting out light time just in the a.m. have any adverse effects? Or is this something I even need worry about at all?

    Update week 10
  • Got a few pics and did a little defoliating today dispite what I said about trying to leave her be. Also pot was pretty dry already this morning so I went ahead and gave her a full feeding with ff's flowering schedule @ only a half gallon. Took a sec to percolate down into the soil which worrys me a bit but the pot is one massive root ball anyway.

This ones from before I did anything to her. Most ove the leaves have opened back up but im still fighting the yellowing, basically everything has yellow on it now which is why I decided to go full feed today.

Snapped a couple with the light in the tent off to give a better picture of the color situation. The light really seems to wash all the green out of photos

These 2 are also after the defoliation not much of a noticeable difference but I cut away a bunch of growth from the bottom that was dead and shriveled or near dead to make it easier to get my watering spout in...this plant is so squat and bushy it was a pain moving everything out of the way just to get water in the freaking pot. Also took about 30% of the growth that will not produce anything of value, ie anything branching out from the main branches that was elongated heavily and had stems thinner than a toothpick. Most of this had leaves smaller than a quarter and none of it was ever getting to the canopy.

Cant wait till she starts showing.

Coming up with plans for the next run too. Gonna be doing another caramel cream to see if the expiriences are the same growing it differently and a nutter butter and one of my freebies the black d.o.g. from digital genetics.

Continued week 10 (flowering day 4)
  • Here is the only decent pic I could get, just waiting for the pistils to start poking out. Otherwise shes great. Drank the gallon of water I gave her yesterday. Feeding again tomorrow full dose again

Oh and she starting to smell, not exactly like skunk or anything there is just a definite odor when the tent door is open.

    Flowering day 5
  • Well I made my trip to pick up some new bud, now that Im home Id thought Id check out the tent again

Definitely stretching, these tops are stretching and stacking like crazy. More pistils showing up around the plant but its way to hard to get pictures.

Water last nigh with 6.4ph water and a full dose of nutes for the flowering cycle. Gave her 3/4 of a gallon and the pot is already half the weight it was last night. Shes thirsty but she'd better be with all this growth going on. Also chopped a few dead leaves, or almost dead.

    Flowering day 6
  • Did my first major defoliation today. Cut out all the growth from ther tertiary branch nodes from all my main tops besides the main fan leaves, from the 3rd node of the branches down. Will be finishing this part of the defoliation later on this upcoming week. Didnt wanna over do it though since this plant has been stressed so much already. Basically the start of my lollipopping. Phone is charging right now so I couldnt get pics, was way to baked last night, will add some later. Also gave her some plain ph'd distilled water, about 2/3s of a gallon since ahe was starting to droop a bit. Glad that she has been standing tall lately though. This grow has shown me a lot about balancing water and nutrients, literally had no clue when I planted this one what I was getting into but Im still having a blast. Hopefully we'll see some improvement in my next go around.

    Flowering day 7
  • Too lazy to upload last night so Ill do it before I head into work quick

Finished up the defoliation I wanted to do to focus everything to the tops of the main branches and opened up the middle a bit more.

I dont know whats up with that one top thats flopped over. Pot still had plenty of water in it last night but shes gonna get some tonight along with a feed.
Also went ahead and aerated the front of the pot a bit. I used the probe from that cheap ass 3 way meter I bought for 15 bucks. Made about 15-20 pokes down through the pot and yeah its like 85% roots. It was almost hard to poke the holes without the probe collapsing each time. Hopefully it helps though I think it shocked her a bit. Plus I think I clipped the main root.

    Flowering day 8
  • Most of the people following me already know I may have watered with some slightly spoiled fert mix that I mixed about a week ago. Hoping it doesnt hurt her. Didnt notice until i started pouring into the pot it was stinky. It was probably about 1/4 gal mixed with 1/2 gallon of stuff that was still ok and by the time I noticed the smell I had already used about half of what I put in my watering can so fingers crossed. Anyway heres some pics of the girl

Calyxs are starting to stack up pretty nice, white hairs popping out all over. More in the front of the tent than in the back though. But it is what it is. Oh I also left my f'ing basement lights on last night. Im pretty sure no light got into the tent, but I really gotta stop smoking before I check in on my tent, one of these times Im gonna f up big time.

    Flowering day 10
  • So according to the strain info, this girl should only flower for 60 days on average. 10 down 50 to go.

The stretch is going like crazy. From the start of flower to now she closed half the gap between the canopy and light. I had lowered it to help raise the dli and ppfd withougt boosting the power consumption, down to about 24" above the canopy and now theres probably 12-14"
