New Grower First grow, humbolt caramel cream (8-3-22)

Day 6 8-9-22
  • Upon returning from work today seedling took on a very nice green and its first set of leaves are starting to show well. Uniform color but stem is very red. May just be genetics but I could have sworn that I read it may be too much nutes, not sure which. Shes ok though so not concerned.

    Conditions just before returning home
Temps in mid to high 70s and humidity hovering in the 50s. Ok with this plant likes it too

    End of week 1
  • So full week under my belt

Some pics of the minor light burn I think incurred from having my light a little too bright and too close

Cut power to 40% and moved up to 20in
    20220811_192927.jpg

Temps dead at 75 every time I check, humidity staying in the low to mid 50s

Gave it a touch of distilled water. About 1/4 gal just to rehydrate, its drying out much quicker with the clip on now. Also seems to be a little slow, wondering if thats cuz of light intensity?

    8-12-22
  • Looks like I found a sweet spot for the lights and humidity. Vpd is hovering around 1.1kpa and shes liking it

    This pic is from yesterday
    20220812_201740.jpg

This is today, slightly different zooms but shes definitely happy where everything is set.
First pic is with the lights on second is without, just flash from my phone.

    8-14-22 update during week 2
  • I was playing with my par mapping and dli app when i noticed this purpling to the underside of my first set of leaves. Its not a problem right? The topside is still nice and bright green and shes growing at a steady rate.

The current temp is in the low 70s. Its been fluctuating a bit more since I got clip ons going. Humidity since I watered her has been in the low to mid 60s.

Here is a pic from the top for comparison

Thanks everyone. Im sure its nothing to worry about just wondering if theres something I gotta nip in the butt. Ive also read that plants can take on a purply red hue from too little/or too much light. I cant remember which. I would assume too little as darker colors absorb light.

8-16-22 just shy of 2 weeks
  • So Ive never seen the second set of leaves come out in 5 leaflets but Ive also never grown with decent genetics

    Temp 75.5
    Rh 56.8%
    Vpd 1.25kPa

She seems to be doing well except those brown spots on the first set of true leaves. IDK if thats light/nute burn or what but new growth seems healthy so Im not worrying about it. It is happening where the leaves are the darkest purple on the underside though

Again the soil looks dry on top but underneath its still nice and moist.

    Mid week 3

    No lights

    20220820_195104.jpg

    Lights on

I cant believe I took almost 10 years to start doing this again.

    Midway thru week 3
    Temps 74-78
    Rh 55%-65%
    Vpd .9-1.25 kpa

Shes starting to explode and Im loving it. Question for anyone following though, she seems to be leaning thought maybe my circulating fan was blowing on her weird so I moved it to the front left side of my tent but she still wants to lean towards the door. Anyone know why that might be? And how strong of a breeze should I be putting on this? My fan can move 310 cfm at full power and I have 10 settings.

    Into week 4
  • So playing around with my tent settings and humidifier I was able to dial in the vpd yesterday and it looks like it stuck most of the day today

Temps stayed in the low 70s all day humidity bottomed out at 58% and vpd stayed around 1.07 most of the day.

Have the humidifier directly behind my passive intake now and its helped a lot. Also kicked my exhaust fan up to about 60% power and I also started giving her 19 hours of light gonna bump it up to 20 next week and veg at 20 on 4 off for about a month I think.

She exploded today pot was dry also so I gave her a GOOD watering of about 1.5 gal no nutes yet.

Update (near end of week 4)
  • 20220830_193532.jpg

    Plant seems to be ok

Tent is getting much more troublesome to keep dialed in temps fluxuating more as well as humidity

Im sure everyone will notice but its almost week 5 and all this undergrowth needs to bulk up plus I want multiple colas so I decided to top. She took it well though.

    Official start of week 5
  • 20220901_053623.jpg

A little droopy today. Much more when I got home from work last night. All that undergrowth is starting to work its way out already, most limbs from the nodes have already almost doubled in length looking for light which is what I was hoping for.

Curious though its been a month, my dissolved solids tester broke somehow, wont turn on but battery is fine. So Idk if I should start feeding or not with the next watering. I guess I could wait till I get a new meter.

    Midway thru week 5

Top seems to have taken well, node growth has almost caught up just be low top, and growth at the first few is poking through the bottom of the canopy, figuring in about a week or 2 i should start seeing the plant canopy even out a bit.

Temps hanging around the low to mid 70s
Rh in the mid 50s to low 60s at night, last night spiking at 69%
Vpd varies heavily throughout the day

Ph is 6.7 so looking good there

First feeding given on friday .5 gal with half dosed nutes. Seems to have helped the droopiness a bit
