Harvest & Curing The time we all work so hard for. Achieving the Perfect Cure!

yep.... RELATIVE humidity.... relative to the temp...

TBM, is it possible to do a decent cure without the hygrometers in the jars? I started researching this too late and will not be a ble to get the stuff before i start my cure. I am looking for a way to get the job done, but with, i guess diy stuff at this point, thanks for the help.

Thanks TBM thought you'd gone to sleep! glad you didnt

Stuck @ 70%
Hey folks,
I dried my bud using this guideline. I have em jarred in 1 qt mason jars for about 10 days
I have been burping them 2 or 3 times a day, the lowest the hygrometer has read is 69%, but only once.
Should I be concerned? I am literally on the beach, but the relative humidity isn't as bad as one would think, running between 55% & 65% this week. I really just don't want to get any mold or mildew.
Any suggestions?

From what iv read i would say take them out of jars to dry a little bit more maybe 6-8 hours then pop back into jars.

I know that a good cure is key to good flavor, smell & smokability (is that a word?) but does it also improve the high? i've only cured buds a couple of times before, but i could swear that on my last one that the high was considerably improved after a 5 week cure as opposed to when i tested after only one week in the jar. or was that just my 'magination?

Absolutely. A good cure draws all the moisture out of the stalks and stems and into the bud. While this is happening, chlorophyll and other non-medicinal elements are released into the air, which is part of the reason for burping the jars. You're left with less of the negative by-products and and cleaner, more potent high. I don't ever consider my bud cured and ready to smoke until 30 days in the jar. And as time passes beyond that, you'll often find subtle changes to the taste, aroma, and potency that you may like even better than when it was really fresh.

thanks AndyB - i wanted to give you some +rep for this info & also because i really like your smoke reports but unfortunately i don't have any +rep to give - yet :peace:
