Harvest & Curing The time we all work so hard for. Achieving the Perfect Cure!

Ive had some bud curing for almost 4 months now and its holding at 62%...its my first time, so im wondering, should i worry about this changing sometime soon? should i buy those boveda packs to hold the moisture, or will the nugz be just fine? I plan on curing most of my nugz for a long time, cuz i honestly just have too much..but dont want the nugz to ruin. Idk, i was just reading over this again, and alot of people are mentioning those boveda's...but im sure people have cured for a year without them right?? i would imagine you only really need those in real dry climates..right?? Sorry about the rambling, i just smoked..haha

i need some of those .i am interested in putting some stuff up long turm.i do smoke some of mine too early but i only smoke the bottom limbs..the top half goes in jars however i cant keep it right.too moist or feels too dry.

hello again TBM and all. another quick question or two. would it be better to dry a freshly harvested plant in a room with 60-70% relative humidity or 30-40%? i got some 62% boveda packs in the mail the other day but one was broken and soaked the rest in it's magical contents. do you think they're still useable or should i not risk contaminating bud with the chemicals?

great ideas! thanks thai, i appreciate it greatly! i guess i'll try to find a humidifier to bring the rh up in the room where it's currently 30-40% space. i definitely don't want to risk mold. i'm already having enough problems containing that under the kitchen sink.
:peace:

brilliant, thanks for sharing that! does it make a difference whether they dry in darkness or light? i've heard for curing they should remain in darkness but wasn't sure if it mattered during the drying process. you're saving me from making many mistakes and wasting a lot of money. AFN seems to do that a lot.
:smokebuds:

60% should be ok but 70% is getting close to good conditions for mold - make sure you have good air circulation & you should be ok.

As far as the Boveda packs - I have no idea, never had one bust on me before.
You could maybe put them in a ziploc bag or similar small baggie (not closed) and place in the same jar as the buds so the buds don't come in contact with contaminated packs or maybe place the pack in the bottom of the jar covered with a piece of mesh. I doubt the chems are dangerous but I wouldn't chance it.

like thai says i doubt i would make a dif as long as the crystals weren't in dir contact but usually the mesh bags the crystals are in are less containing than a plastic bag
as long as your not slathering the buds in it it would be pretty much the same thing
for a quick dry i use 8 sec blasts in microwave to help quickly evaporate not too much and it will not be as tasty as properly curred bud
but honestly on the other part i tend to like some mature but pre-mature buds to enjoy from time to time
often i am teased that i have cured jars and i will pluck straight from plant into a glass just to get that green extra crisp chlorophyl taste:)
hey what can i say i enjoy cannabis in all forms so far:)

under extreemes in humidity if you have a electric stove(gas stove gives off more moisture)
run the stove open for a hour or two in as close to sealed area as possible to burn off moisture and place jars close to stove when burping them to decrease outside humidity then the air close to the stove is drier and will assume more moisture and will draw out alittle more and the air inside the container replaced near stove will have less humidity than in surrounding areas which will lessen the humidity inside the jar
to be more clear if you have a container w/ 40% humidity inside and open it in a room w/ 100% humidity to be easy even though you burped the jar it might have actually absorbed more moisture than it let out:)

Most of the people I know just smoke their stuff too soon...they don't know what they are missing. I have a family of friends who smoke their stuff NOW...sometimes still wet !
I love it when I open an aged jar...a real VAPE pleasure is coming....

Love the avatar
life is real good if you have enough to worry about a propper cure:)

I have NO control over humidity - I lock my buds up in a grow box with a PC fan providing some light air just underneath where they sit in metal "shower shelves" (to dry evenly) - no light.

They dry out in 3 days max, and are very "crispy" - if I put them in jars after 2 days, let's say, I can see them getting moist again and I worry about mold, so maybe I shouldn't worry about that. The smell for my Russian Rocket Fuel plant pretty much goes away too. I'm sure it'll smoke fine, but that smooth taste goes away and some of the potency I'm sure. They get really "hard" and fragile and fluffy, instead of condensing.

WTH am I supposed to do? Should I just start curing in mason jars after 2 days and burp 'em for 15 min's 2-3X a day? Maybe this is obvious, as I have no other options, but I'm disappointed in how fast my buds dry out, I can see some of the hairs just dropping off now when I pick them up even lightly.

Kinda sucks. I have an air conditioned condo man - no other choice.
