Hopefully some of y'all can help me out here. I recently found myself absolutely swimming in seeds and am not sure how to best store them.

I've got two freebie photo seeds from a few months ago, as well as a dozen Mephisto beans that I should be receiving later this week. Then last night a friend gifted me 26 femmed Blue Dream seeds from their garden. Not a bad problem to have, right? Except that I can only grow two at a time, so I'm gonna have to hold onto a bunch of these.

My question is - how best to store these, and how long can I expect them to remain viable? Looking for any advice/info. Thanks!

I've got seeds everywhere..some in the fridge some been on my bureau for 10 years.. keep em in a cool dark place nice and dry.. I've got seeds older than I am I bet..I'm 46. Some of my real old seeds I scuff before I soak but 95% will germ

Right on. That's what I've heard too, more or less. Is there any benefit to keeping them in the fridge versus just in a dark cool place, you think? I'd imagine they'd be pretty stable either way, just curious what others have experienced.

I only keep a couple hundred in the fridge..just started that. Trying to find out myself if it makes a difference.

Right on. Thanks for the answers, y'all. Looks like I should be fine for quite awhile with a bit of basic care, good to know!

If you put them in the freezer, how do you get them to pop once you're ready to start some new ones? I had some difficulty with one blueberry auto seed, it popped but it hasn't progressed from there. I think I stunted it somehow and now I'm trying to revive it.

I hear scuffing works well, will try that next time. Had a similar issue myself, and kept in semi-decent conditions (dry, coolish, container) I've done seeds at 6 years which still grew. 4 years was a little slow to begin, but no difference in the end plants.
