Was thinking about this today / we talking quick dry in the microwave,
what other way would there be to quick dry how does this effect taste and harshness how long for a 2 gram wet bud lets say lol ?
I harvested the lowest larfy buds off my Gold Leaf Auto a couple of days ago for a taste. Maybe it'll be a couple of grams dry. It's taking longer than I thought. I put it in a paper bag in my air conditioned office for a couple of days. Today I put it in a big jar, and burped it down to 48% RH a few times by holding it by the AC discharge for a few seconds. It still goes back up to 70% when I close the jar.

If one of you engineers figures out a way to automate the burping by maintaining a constant RH and temperature in a harvest-size container, you'll sell a zillion of them. The WeDryer is on the right track, but I don't think it has a humidity sensor to vary fan speed, it just dries as fast as it can and controls the smell (correct me if I'm wrong).

I usually take mine down when all are trichs are cloudy, milky white… I believe the trichomes will continue to “mature” a little during drying and some may amber at that time. Do you have an eye loop or scope like a 60-100x?
That's what i'm seeing with my first 2 auto's
mostly cloudy the slightest amber on the top cola (crop kings purple haze Sativa)
Waiting on the next 3 from the seed fair bruce banner Sativa should be ready for harvest next month around this time

Mara whats going on here are you drying in a jar/ or your curing ?
them buds seem to be wet putting out some moisture but what do i know its all new a learning experience for NY

Just trying to get a pre-harvest taste. I tried running partially dried bud through a grinder and leaving it out overnight. That works too.
I hear ya how sticky was that going through your grinder i'm so ready to sample my own home grown bud ,
just trying to hold on and be patience (good luck with that ) and get the best possible experience from my first grow.

It was pretty sticky, but the grinder handled it. I think the ground up bud dries quick because it has so much more surface area. The moisture doesn't have to migrate from the center of the bud to the outside. It was a bit harsh, but strong.

oh hey what’s up?! oh cool-just some amber on lower buds which means I suck at looking for amber. I’ll harvest this weekend.

I am seeing traces of amber / depending on how long you wanna be locked on the couch its about that time but what do i know ( Newb) going on what I read and see/ its a learning experience Good Luck !

Here's a legal question for the NY crew...

As I'm sure you know, when they wrote the law that legalized weed here, they also wrote up a nice set of rules for home grows (three plants per person and so on) but these rules do not take effect until months after the dispensaries are open.

I've heard two different legal interpretations of where that leaves us now.

Some folks say that the old law against growing still applies, with the same old penalties (the only difference being that can't also add on a possession charge like they used to). Others say that the way the new law is written, growing is technically still illegal, but there is no longer any prescribed penalty for it.

Has anyone heard a definitive answer for this? Asking for a friend.

(Here's the text of the new law: https://legislation.nysenate.gov/pdf/bills/2021/S854A)
