New Grower Northern Lights Auto Flower Grow

Day 3 update

I see the seed at the surface of soil now.

The seed is split open 60-70% of the way and I think I see one little leaf outside of the shell but the leaf appears to be sitting on the soil

Should I turn my light on now or wait until I see the seed fall off and both leafs above the soil?

It’s up to you... you can wait another day or you can turn them on now. The shell should work itself off but if it’s still on after a few days they are easy to remove just have to be gentle though give it time first.

Thanks for the diagram for a weekend project.

How many grows do u think this filter could handle before it needs to be replaced.

Or can I just replace the carbon within the filter?

I don’t think they are easily reusable I think you can pop them in the oven to freshen them back up a little bit to be able to finish a grow but that’s it. As for how long it lasts idk... I’ve been using mine for almost a couple years no issue.

@LedGuy74

I added the fan and filter to my cart.

Found this ducting and it looks like it comes w 2 clamps.

Amazon product

Think that will work?

Yeah but I would recommend you add a third clamp to the cart as I feel you’ll probably end up wanting one. How long is the ducting? I’d imagine you can cut a 2-3 foot section off to attach on the opposite end of the fan.

I know in the diagram it shows that the filter and fan are attached together but I doubt you will be able to do that. You will probably have a piece of ducting between the fan and filter as well. My bad I didn’t realize the diagram didn’t show that.

It’s just personal preference though you may decide to do it differently then me. You can have the intake of the inline open without ducting but me personally I prefer ducting so there is some sort of barrier to the opening of the fan.

Also good call on getting it sooner then later you should have some weeks but again I’ve seen people put it off because the underestimate the smell and then they log on one day saying how they tossed the plants lol.

Thanks- already ordered w/o the extra clamp. Can run to ace hardware if I need one.

It is 8ft long so I will cut it. I also read the reviews and you can connect a fan to the filter w/o ducting between so it will go duct.. fan... duct... filter...

Will figure out direction when the time comes.

Today it’s hot, 2mar it supposed to be hotter.

Looks like turning the light on raised the grow room temp by 7 or 8 degrees.

Temp of the grow room is now 86 which is hot I think. Tomar it will be 90.

I have no more fans for the time being so....

Could I lower the bottom shelf of the grow space which would make the grow room bigger with the goal of cooling down the room a bit?

I can always set the plant pot on a book or something so the light is still 24 in from the plant.

Cut the lights off during the hottest six hours of the day and run them on an 18/6 schedule until you can control temps better then you can bump it up to a 20/4 or 24/0 schedule.. 86 isn’t terrible in veg I personally am not worried about anything other then bugs at those temps. Mites thrive and breed like fucking crazy in the 80’s+ lol learned that the hard way. But mites on a seedling is just not likely at all lol. Though I do recommend when the plant starts growing to shower and change before you tend to the plants to reduce risk of big infestations.

Also if you can get the fan and filter to connect together more power to you. I didn’t think it was possible as the fan is not made of an extremely durable plastic. It’s hard to clamp plastic and metal together because it pretty much requires bending something. But duct tape however... that would probably connect them pretty nicely. Idk I’m not saying clamps wouldn’t work it’s just I don’t see how the clamps can be tightened enough to keep things in place without cracking the plastic or bending the metal and leaving gaps ect for the stinky air to escape through. It doesn’t matter though so long as it’s connected... I’m sure you’ll get it set up fine it’s not hard lol. So long as they are connected and air can’t escape before reaching the filter it’s golden no matter the method to connect it all.
