Once again @GrowNorthern I tip my hat
Looks like an incredible new product.
My questions are far less tech and more practicality ....
I'm in a very low loft space - I've been using ms006 effectively angled sideways (angled as best possible to work with my 1m height limitation). Far from ideal - but I've been pretty successful up until now.
You say thislight is top lighting only - does that mean it can't be hung at an angle like my 006
Second question- since most growers on here are auto specialists and have effectively ditched the veg process /heading straight for bloom cycle- do you think the QY model of the unit might make more sense??
Thanks for the detailed response to all these questions so far - enlightening stuff
Cheers !!
@dirtbag thanks your feedback. Regarding the angled hanging, it hasn't been designed as a light that can be angled but that doesn't mean it can't do it; because of the buoyancy/convection of hot air, the upper most side will be hotter than the lower side when angled so the heat profile will be slightly asymmetrical. The heatsink itself has a very uniform thermal profile so that would work in your favor to an extent. The lamp is rated for use in upto a 40C ambient air temp as a top light/horizontal use (not that any one would go that far temp wise). When using it on an angle I would recommend keeping the ambient temp always under 35C in the grow room (which I am sure you do anyway) and the angle no bigger than 45 degrees.
Regarding the spectrum, actually I think quite the opposite for autos but it is debatable. In my opinion you want a light that is going to produce the fastest and most desirable morphology in veg to get the best yields. The HS1 does this very well I think aswell as producing high quality and efficient flowering results, so the HE (high efficiency) version would be my recommendation. That said I am sure we can get some comparison going on at some point to see whether a focus on veg or on flowering suits autos better.
