What if you find you have a extra hungry girl and need to top dress early maybe extra feeding would you just do your same flower feed? I got SS triton lime biscotto that has blown through her top dressing way sooner then and from what you've told me when I see extensive roots on top I am behind feeding correct?

I have had to wait until the girl drains the reservoir and has a bit of a dry down. The dry down is what I normally do before I fill my reservoir up. Let's say your junior is drinking a gallon in 24 hours. Once I see the reservoir dry, I try to fill the reservoir up at first light after the off cycle. That is the perfect time to top water feed.
I'll feed with either Blue Gold flower or BAS Build A Bloom.............. I had to do both at the same time with Root Beer Float!
If you felt you needed more nitrogen with that particular girl in the picture, I would use the blue gold more than likely. It has a little bit more nitrogen in it.
Whatever I use I try to coincide it with compost tea as the water for the feed.
Trying to keep the nutrients out of the reservoir as much as possible. I will spray the top slowly and go work other girls while it soaks in. If she is feeding real hard and has gone through the media with the feeder roots, it can be pretty slow for the water to be taken up. Even with a surfactant, it can tend to roll off until it gets well soaked.
It's OK if you get a little bit of the water to go through and fall into the reservoir. You're gonna wait anyway before you fill the reservoir back up with water. Just like normal, I will wait for a dry down(lightness of the
EB) before I fill my reservoir back up with water.
If you are concerned with that particular girl you showed a picture of, I would go ahead and do my flower dressing if you have the room in the mound.

And I think there are really girls that you shouldn't grow in Earth box juniors. Root Beer Float comes to mind.
she's a heavy feeder and can get quite large very quickly. She ate through my initial mounding extremely quickly! She caught me completely off guard with the extent that the feeder roots had gone through the material! I did make progress on catching up but it was a lost cause with everything I did.. The
girl could have done so much better if I hadn't got behind.

That's why I set up my nutrient mound at the time of filling the Earth box. It takes time with organics for the food to be available to the plant. That's why I do the last top dressing about 10 days into flower. With all the biological activity already well established in the top soil structure, That final top dressing is available quicker than the initial top dressing was.............. Especially with another biological blast from the compost tea!

edit...................... And there's always my homemade FFJ!

Thats not always the best judge of when to topdress in my experience! When i had worms in there i would do a smaller topdress every couple of weeks to add a lil rock dust and food for the worms and i always still had crazy roots growing out the top of soil!
True with worms!

And where do you Think you have been all day without checking in oh Pink one......?

well I don't have build a boom cause it's been out of stock but I will ordering today I got a gift card that will work :eyebrows: yeah I think I will top dress her earlier then normal with terp tea bloom 3-7-4 and bloom booster .5-1=6-18, EWC, and build a flower. I don't have anything brewed up :oops1::naughtystep:

Well i never did until last grow when he said something about it and have the same thing happening here. You got me thinking now I don't have any worms per say but do use EWC that has some in it. This round I started using roots organic terp tea's for ferts also and their bags say to topdress weekly :nono: I would normally wait another week and half that's when the other two with get top dressed
1 thing i noticed in your boxes was u didn’t have quite the amount of media me and Bill started with! Ours was/is always up over the rim of the juniors from day 1 and it becomes a mountain moving forward! Prob why he does the nute mound cuz it’s elevated some and roots will take a bit longer to reach it and they will stall at that mound before growing more or moving on to find more food! My topdress was mixed into the compost and then topdressed as 1 hence why my roots would breach the surface so quickly! If u start with good soil and no mound i would do 1st topdressing around day 21 and then the following ones will depend on how often the food u use tell u to reapply! U wont go wrong if u add worms to yours bro! My plants always seemed happiest when i used them and fed the worms and let them feed the plants! When i started trying to change up nutes and regimens and shit i started having issues!

Also make sure if u use plain RO then add back Epsom and gypsum! I think u blend yours tho if my brains working atm!

That's cause i swore bill said to leave room for top dressing they will be full after this topping. I probably have gone a little lighter then I should have when filling. I've done my top dressing about every which way not sure what best I am going to do EWC->ferts->compost this time

No milk and cookies for them before bedtime..........
