Best keep the kitties inside.... I still remember coming home one day and finding our cat hiding under the shed. Very unusual behaviour to put it mildly. I couldn't understand it, at least not until I noticed not one Great Horned Owl, but an apparent family of four of them perched is trees above the shed. The cat knew what those owls were up to. Likely after one of them made a serious attempt at grabbing kitty dinner.
