Not necessarily. If you have a bunch in a cloner, it gives more space to trim them down a bit. It isn't necessary if you have space. Some will say you want to limit the leaf surface area, but haven't noticed a difference. Had better health of clones not trimming personally.

Will order an aeroponic cloner in a few weeks. Couple of friends swear by those things. Mine struggled a little over the winter and get nursed back after transplant in solo cups with soil or coco. Was hard as I didn't have a second tent set up. Too hard to keep consistent temp even with a heat mat
U trim the leaves back some so the plant focuses on growing new roots and doesn’t exert energy trying to make the leaves grow bigger! I forget a lot of what i learned but I know I remember that part!

Get the rationale, but had better luck not trimming. See both ways from large, med, and small clone companies. Had better luck not trimming. Who knows. Whatever works

Untrimmed clones will have a head start if rooted in optimal conditions.
Some guys strip them down to the growth tip.. Some guys trim the leaf tips back. it all depends on the circumstance.
I had a gorilla glue plant some years back that was supposed to be an auto but wasnt... Took cuttings from it and they rooted through the rockwool inside of 72 hours. Fastest ive ever seen before or since. Untrimmed 6 inch cuts
