Indoor How Many Lights ?

As I said in one of my previous posts on this thread (check it out again if you forgot the specs), you can only plug the large CFLs (125 watt and up) into a Mogul base E 39 socket, you can pick these up for about 12 bucks and they plug into normal household current...

Using HPS for both flower and veg with photosensitive plants will give you a poor yield, it is better to switch the lighting spectrum when moving from veg to flower... With autos however, they spend so little time vegging that HPS or 2700K (same basic wavelength) can work for the whole life of the plant but it is good to suppliment it with some of the other spectrum (6500K) to speed things up...

Hope that helps!:smokebuds:

Is there a noticeable difference between 1000 watt hps compared to 1000 watt mh or 1000 watt hps?

Not sure I understand your last question...

Oh sorry I remember you posting about the mogul I just thought if it was 300watt you would need it
I meant noticeable difference between heat and yield
Thanks surf

You can yield higher with the HID setup although not by a whole lot, but for the cost of equipment/maintenance and heat, CFLs are the way to go unless you're loaded and can afford all the climate control stuff you'll need for HID right off the bat...

Yeah I guess the only issues with the 1000 watters is the heat. Even if you have a cfl setup. Is it an absolute that you have to have air exchange/exhaust setup?

YES! air must be circulated within and exhausted/exchanged...

but it will be much simpler than HID and CFLs cost less per month to run...

Thanks for the quick responses! really appreciate it
Ah so a fan in the room isnt good enough. You still need fresh air. Would computer fans work well?
In that case my friend might as well keep his 1000 watters. How far away from the top of the plants should they be?

I'm sure you can figure something out with computer fans, you might check with microgrower about those; he builds in computer cases... I use a 6 inch inline fan and ducting to accomplish my circulation along with an 8 inch fan inside the closet to keep things moving, simple but effective....

Thank you greatly for your help. If you don't mind me asking what are the measurements of your grow space?
Height? Width? Length. Also how much the fan and ducting cost you?

it's an odd shape but it's basically 14-16 square feet, (4x4) area. Hydro Farm In-line Fan $50 new, 6 inch ducting $5 new, 8 inch fan $15 new at walmart...
