I'm pretty sure 23w 2700's with a couple 6500's in the mix. Depending on how bushy they get you can also get a couple extra for some side lighting too.. Or you can try that big 300W, Whichever has the biggest footprint would be best and definitely lst so you have a level as possible canopy = max yield.

The trick to get the most out of your cfl's is to have as much of the plant as you can within 1-2" from the bulbs... Just watch the heat, but you can get close.

What spectrum? On average a good bulb runs about ~$80. I'd make sure it's 2700k for autoflowers though.

for 200 actual watts or equivelent?
I believe its actual 200 actual watts

Here is the exact ad
"200W CFL (Compact Fluorescent Light)

is an ideal solution to replace Metal Halide for plant growth. We currently have 600 units in our warehouse.

Features:

- Low heat, Save energy.

- Use household 110V input, no high voltage wiring needed.

- 3 Color temperature choices: 2700k, 6400k"

Would one bulb work for both veg and flowering?

Is one light bulb enough for one plant?

I think thats a good price, actually I would'nt mind a link to that:toke:

200 Actual watts is definitely worth it for $65, no extra things to buy except a reflector if you want one... although with some searching and maybe a coupon you could get it even cheaper... If you are doing auto flowers only I would recommend a big 2700K warm for the canopy and many smaller regular household CFLs in the cool spectrum... (5000-6500K) usually 6500K

Thanks surf.
Would it work on a home light fixture?
Would 200 be enough for non auto?
Also
Someone offered my friend $50+600 watt hps system for my friends 1000 watt mh system. Do you guys think this is a good deal? Is there a noticeable difference between 1000 watt hps compared to 1000 watt mh or 1000 watt hps?

Also would it make a big difference if hps was used for both veg and flowering?
