New Grower Here we go... n00b grows in CoCo!

Gonna use a lifeline and call an OG.. @Waira I just read your article on silica benefits for cannabis. My question is, when during the plants lifecycle should I be using Gh ArmorSi? I’m growing in 5gal pots of coco with GH flora trio. And how often should I be adding it to the feed? Or is a Foliar spray every now and then with it added more beneficial?
Cheers and easy smoking! [emoji869]

Good evening everybody!

Day 12(CBD),13(EM),14(WW)

Just finished up with the plants, hit the Hoss, and now it’s update time.

All three plants are now doing great! No more burnt tips, and all of them are growing a little bit each day. The CBD has got a wicked leaning stem to it, quite possibly from the day 3 cell phone incident [emoji38].

Not sure if it will affect it in any way, I don’t think so, what do you think? Here’s some top shots, WW is working on her 4th node now.

I mixed up 8L of feed last night, without any ArmorSi mixed in to check for ph swing. 4ml CaliMagic, 5ml Micro, 5ml Grow, and 1ml Bloom for a total of 412ppm. I tested the ph of the mix after it sat for 24hrs and guess what, the ph was the exact same as it was last night, 5.76. So I’m looking into using the silica as a foliar spray from time to time, I just need to figure out how often and what not.

Is it a bad thing I’m already looking at buying some @mephisto seeds and planning my next round of growing? Haha and so it begins.... I’m thinking about trying to start a rotating garden in there, get the cycle of 4 plants slightly staggered, start one every 3 weeks or so, and keep that going.

Anyways that’s about it for the night, 2x Autocobs are on the way from @bigSmo, cannot wait, abit of any early Christmas present to myself [emoji51]. Here’s a WW shot to send ya off! Easy smoking! [emoji869]

Hey, everything is looking really good! I don’t think that bent stem is going to bother her at all. It looks thick and strong.

Not at all surprised you want some Mephisto. I think you deserve it. But be warned ... seed buying is addictive. I have more seeds than I can grow in 3 years, and trying not to buy more all the time.

Congratulations on the cobs, your ladies are going to love them! :cooldance:

Agree everything is looking great. Trust me you aren't the first one to spend a few weeks on this site and rush out to buy Mephisto and Dinafem seeds...lol.

With the leaning stem it appears your LST is already started and begging to be trained.

Looks like they're ready to take off, I personally find this phase to be the most fun part of the grow

Thanks @Mavadines! I do plan on topping them at the 4th node, as for LST, when did you start tying branches down?

I honestly didn't start tying it out till pretty late along. Maybe the 5th week? I really focused on tons of leaf tucking, usually twice a day, and started around where you're at now but with one further set of leaves. I was shocked with how much difference that made to the lower branches. That gave the shape and I just came along later with the ties to open it up. I actually wanted to start LST earlier but the main stalk was pretty firm and I abandoned my tie down after a day as it just didn't look right. I like this method and will probably do it again on my next round

I start lst around week 3 make sure you ancher stalk at base near soil so you dont shift your roots then bend away. I try to spiral my plant all the way around my grow bags makes em super bushy!

They're looking good, man! I just started my (very light) lst today. More of a gentle guide to spread her a little bit. Topped on day 15 above the 4th node and it's now day 19. I'll get more aggressive if I need to later, but 2 of the girls are growing much faster than I anticipated. So, I started lightly tying her down before she gets too thick.

Keep it up, they look great!

Yaay finally, a noob that's not asking for a feeding schedule. What a breath of fresh air man. Well done.
Less is best mate. If you think a lighter dose would be better then it usually is. Deficits are easily fixed by adding more and don't really do any damage. Toxicities cause serious harm and are harder to fix and diagnose.
They look sweet though man.

Here's some general rules for you.
Not an exact science but you can't go far wrong.
Feed wise, asuming they're growing properly they need 100ppm(NOT including the water) per week of veg.
4 week old plants needs 400ppm, 10 week old plant needs 1000ppm. Most strains take a little more during the stretch then level off once the buds start forming.
Once the buds are half formed you drop the Base nutes by half (roughly) and hit it with a PK booster.

Most strains can handle ppms a fair chunk higher than that but that's what they actually need.
Tops go yellow you up the micro nutes/calmag
Bottoms go yellow you up the Base nutes.
Brown rusty spots and you first make sure it's not caused from perspiration burn then up the calmag.
Leaves go dark or the tips claw down you lower the N which is in the Base nutes.
Tips burn is iether p or K I can't remember but if your not using a booster you'd lower the Base nutes. If you are using a booster then lower that.

As long as you keep the feed on the lighter side, up the doses a little at a time and stick to those rules then that's all you should ever need to know.

Again though, this is general guidelines you've still gotta judge it yourself.
I've got 7 week veg photos that are still on 450ppm and apart from a little iron Def they're fine but it's because I had to keep them small for a while.
I've also had autos that needed 1000ppm by week 6 cos I made them go massive.
As long as you stick to the lighter side though the worst that can happen is some leaves go a little bit yellow. When they do you just up the feed and problem solved. If nothings going yellow then they don't need anything more.
Hope that's helpful for ya buddy.
Keep it green
