New Grower Here we go... n00b grows in CoCo!

LOL, I love DWC. Can’t see switching now that I’ve got it figured out. My ladies are monsters, although I’m not sure if that’s lucky strain selection or the DWC effect.

Sounds like you might need a bigger grow space! :eyebrows::stir:
I'm in a 4x4x7. Plenty of space.
I actually average around 5oz a plant...a few with sh*tty genetics and neglect due to work drove that number wayyy down lol.
Plants in Hydro do get bigger, Due to higher amounts of oxygen in the water and a few other variables. I was honestly thinking about switching to DWC just to see how big I could get a gg4 to go. Last one I grew gave me a hair over 8oz from one plant. She was 38"x35" wide when I chopped her.
First grow I did with gg4 gave me 10oz between two plants (7 from one trained girl, 3 from a "christmas tree")
Once I have the funds available, I'm planning on building a 8x16x12 space on my 3rd story since no one ever goes up there and we don't use it for anything at all.

Oh that space would be rocking! I am growing a GG4 and 2 NLs right now, my first grow. I think my GG4 is a bit smaller than yours though, not sure what I’ll get off her, but I’ll be thrilled with anything more than a couple oz. She had a rough first 30 days and an inexperienced trainer to boot.

It's a learning experience, that's for sure. I actually lurked grower forums (AFN, and others) and started researching horitculture a LONG time before I even bought seeds. (My issue is that I forget things quite a bit (go figure). )
Anyway... Hop over to LS if you want to talk more... I don't wanna hijack this thread any more than we already have...

Plexiglass looks good in there! At 10/12 days old, the ppm might be a bit rich, but I’m really not sure. Not a soil grower so I’m afraid I’m not much help here.

They are going to love those cobs!

Any training plans? I’ve had a lot of luck with topping at the 4th node, seems to go a long way towards evening out the canopy and using efficient light distance and preventing the Christmas tree effect.

Thanks @davisgirl! I’m not in soil either! Growing in coco/perlite, maybe someone who has grown in Coco can lend their opinion.

As for training goes, I’m definitely interested in keeping these girls shorter with a nice even canopy. I’ve seen a pile of info regarding as to when you should top them, anywhere from the 3rd - 5th node. What would be the difference between the 3 down the road?

And a big thanks to @bigsmo! Cobs are ordered and he’s shipping them up to the great white north! Will be a great addition to the box.

When I use silica, I'll mix the nutes a day ahead of time so everything evens out by the time my girls are due for a feeding.
I don't use GH nutes, but you may want to try and see if they're prone to screwing with ph.
I don't think you're supposed to use armor-si for every feed, either. I can't remember...I'll have to go dig that bottle out and see.
:pass:

Other than your sloppy feed hand (lol) everything looks good for the ages they are.

Thanks @Dichoti, I’ll definitely look more into the si, see if that’s the culprit.

Looking good man. Really like the grow box. I'm on my first full run with coco so take what I say with a grain of salt. Info on coco and autoflowers is very conflicting for sure so thought I'd share. I went with the less is more approach. Days 3-7 I went with a week solution around 180 ppm. Day 8 I bumped up to around 250 ppm. Day 13 went to around 350. Day 18 im around 480ppm. Im currently on day 22 and experiencing no tip burn with great growth and color. Maybe your pushing them a tad too hard?

Thanks Dichoti!

Slydawg may very well be right. If so, you wouldn’t be the first grower to overfeed his plants. Easy enough to test by backing off a bit.

That being said it doesn’t look to me like overfeeding. It looks like the start of a calmag issue. Now, every new grower thinks everything can be solved with more calmag, so take that with a grain of salt.

How are they looking today?

I’m thinking this is exactly my issue, I started feeding them with 185ppm on day 1-3, 225ppm 4-7, 453ppm 7-10, and 432ppm for the past two days. The plants are only 10-12 days old now(cbd 10, em 11, and WW is 12). I’ll go abit easier for a couple days and watch for results. The new growth definitely looks healthy, but a few days should show the truth.

Everything looked peachy this morning before work, I’ll give em a good look over after work tonight. I’ve been adding 150-180ppm of CalMag for every feeding, so I’m not sure if that would be the issue? But then again, my coco ph was around 6.8, so maybe that’s working against me as well?
