Claiming a fake renter, which is easy for law enforcement to confirm (or more likely force you to prove for real), is right off hard evidence of criminal intent, fraud, etc. (vs. just somebody growing more pot than allowed). With your approach, you essentially confess to growing over the legal limit and getting money from it too! If they come with a search warrant, you're already considered guilty. Best to keep things simple, not say anything, definitely don't want to lie.I don't know how your laws work, but a way around that here is you sublet a space to a tenant. You aren't required to save a copy of a tenant's ID. They pay their rent in cash, and then you have a reason to deposit cash into the bank.
